I work in an oncology/hematology clinic which is a secondary clinic to the main one located inside of the hospital in my city. I was hired part time to scan documents into charts and direct ALL incoming calls. We do not have a phone tree which I’ve been asking for. I am almost done with my degree for this field (Medical Office Professional) so I had some knowledge and was hired the day of my interview. I started in November 2021 and by February 2022 I was full time with union/medical benefits. I have been told numerous times that it’s been years since someone has been able to keep up with scanning/phones and I was a “rockstar”. And they were right, I am very very good at my job. Even the snobby doctor I work with likes me. I’m not exaggerating when I say, the clinics would not be able…

Greedy smh.
Good Thing I’m Leaving
Gave a notice to my miserable job the other day. Leaving for something with better pay and better hours. My notice was for 9 days instead of the full two weeks based on when the other job wanted me to start. Today I got an email from the director saying that if further jobs call them to inquire about me he will tell them i am not rehireable. We have been understaffed the entire 15 months I’ve worked here, giving 100% effort the whole time and this is what I get. I guess you can all guess why almost half the staff has quit in the last couple of months.
Job search blows
I’ve been looking for two months now. Literally hundreds of applications. And a bitching resume. I’m trying to get out of truck driving but that’s all any one wants to hire me for. I have a deep repertoire of other skills damn it. I can do more than drive a truck. Also side note dear companies seeking employees stop forcing us to make a user name and full profile just to fill out a bloody application. I have not got the spare time to spend 10 minutes on every single application I put in. For the world being so short on workers I didn’t expect this to be so difficult.
Hiring freeze versus layoffs
I work for a large global company, around 40k employees. CEO just made comments in one of our recurring “all-hands” meetings that the hiring freeze they put into place in January was the alternative to doing layoffs.. his exact words were something along the lines of “we would rather let the attrition happen naturally”. They literally wanted people to quit. Explains why they forced us back into the office too, under the guise of “collaboration”.. The people that havent quit by now are now all over worked, forced to come into the office, morale is terrible… no one is “collaborating”.. This was done so they could avoid severance and unemployment benefits. And then, later the CEO has the balls to say “a little recession might not be a bad thing for our company”…. unreal how out of touch this guy is with his employee base.. Super frustrating and posting this…
Thought y’all would enjoy this
So I currently work as a lot porter at a car dealership and make $12.50/hour. It's a dirt easy job, all I do is put a plastic seat liner and floor mat in the car, fill the washer fluid, then park the car whereever it needs to be parked. Been there for going on 8 months and since I work in the service department, I talk to the service advisors all day and I know they make pretty good money; there is one advisor who made $123k last year, and another supposedly made $160k. Since I've been there, I've asked about becoming an advisor a few times and basically been blown off. One time I asked my bosses boss and he gave me a copy of the book that he wrote(he used to own a consulting company that consulted with other dealerships, so he wrote a book on how to…
Is it just me or… is this really weird?
I took a new job about a month ago. It’s a salaried position. And it’s a small company… by small I mean there are 6 of us and a ‘CEO’. When I first took the job, I asked the ‘CEO’ to be set up on direct deposit. She took a voided check, made me fill out the form… ya know. Well, my last 2 checks have been paper checks. Which is FINE! Exceeeeeeeept they’re taking an entire day to deposit (ex – I get paid on the 31st, I don’t see it till the 1st) and I’m basically having to beg…??…for them? So – first check, I looked at my account and there was no deposit. So, I contacted her immediately and asked where it was. She said she’d write it out when she got to the office. I asked for it at 7:30AM and didn’t receive it till 4PM.…
This might not be the right place but I just need some guidance. Sorry this is a little long. I started a part time job (agreed upon 1 day a week) in may. The interview was fine other than the manager being very pushy to get me to work for them. I agreed because 1 day a week for the most money I’ve made in this field while my ACL heals sounded perfect. Especially with the opportunity to add one other day a week in their office that is in a bordering state (1.5 hours away, 1 way) Since I started I have been pushed to get a license in my field in the bordering state by my manager, so I can “hopefully work full time between both offices”. Pushed to move to the bordering state (I just moved 3 hours away from my home town to be with my…
unemployment systems failure
Hey, Did anyone see that the company that controls the unemployment systems in 40+ states has been shut down completely since Monday? https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/security/state-unemployment-jobs-services-country-cyberattack-rcna36151
