Month: June 2022
They could have waited one day. For the health insurance to stay on for at least another month. This is after 17 years of service. 17 years of being onsite at 5 am. 17 years of connection to community at this place. He was fired for a cup of coffee. They called it theft. Fuck this place. I hate it here. Doesn’t matter how many years you put into a job. They don’t give a fuck. Ruthless assholes. They could have waited ONE day. I fucking hate it here.
I work in retail in PA for a pretty big supermarket Chain a local one owned by a bigger company who's main HQ's are out West. My former assistant Manager was in yesterday and asked if I wanted to or when I could come help him at his store and they make $15 an hour to start there. WTF? first how I asked? he said they are different Union despite the same district. I told him I'm not sure how much I could help as my team in my department is loosing a guy soon so I'll probably be getting his wages. He's a fairly good boss and I know his family as I went to school with his cousin. I'm by no means an ass kisser to upper management but I will gladly take advantage of situations that I get more $$$ and hrs and most would too. When…
Scheduling screwup
The person who does rosters at my work was away sick so they had someone else fill in. This person screwed up my schedule and took me off mornings. I thought oh well, at least I get to sleep in last 5am. Yesterday the regular roster person got back and noticed that by taking me off mornings, I was 3 hours short of the hours in my contract. So now he wants to take my sick leave to cover for their mistake.
Time moves slow at my new job
I recently landed a desk job. You know the type: M-F 8-5, in office for no reason. Overall, it's a job that suits me. I'm finally using my degree, I get paid a living wage, and I don't have to work with the public. And it's easy. Idk if it's just because I'm used to fast paced high stress jobs but time moves so slow here. I was told the other people in my position get through one (1) case a day. Sometimes a day and a half if it's complicated. They've had high turn over recently because they hired people who weren't able to do it. I'm only in my second week and reaching that goal easily. I don't want to set the bar too high this early so I'm not trying to do much outside of the minimum. I stretch out the work throughout the day so it's…
When I approached my shop supervisor in a respectful and objective way about it, he said he would look into it. It's been 3 days. On day two, I used the bathroom twice an hour for 5-10 minutes. Today, I just called out completely. After I get paid for my very last holiday pay, July 4th, I will be putting in my two weeks because I secured a $5 more per hour job with an old colleague of mine at a different company today. Had my supervisor made it right instead of stonewalling me, I'd have been satisfied with him matching newbie's pay, only 75 cents more in comparison. The guy I trained doesn't know an Allen wrench from a pipe wrench, will not operate a forklift or a crane, which are both essential parts of the job. They're going to be screwed. This feels like poetic justice to me.
Fucking bullshit
