We are the only country that offloads the burden of paying food service employees living wages onto the customer. Other service workers don't have this – a car mechanic is paid their wages regardless of how many cars came in to get fixed. An IT employee's earnings for one day doesn't depend on the quantity and quality of issue fixes. The alternative is to have the prices of food include the cost of paying the employees their wages, and have the employees earn an hourly wage that doesn't include tips. How do we get this to happen? When employees don't make minimum wage from tips, owners have to make up the difference. If there are no tips, owners have to pay the entire wage. If there isn't enough revenue to cover that, prices must go up to compensate. So, I propose a tipping strike to move businesses towards tip-less pricing…

Manager disregarding Company Policy
I thought I would post a story of my old manager that I heard from a co-worker yesterday. I told her she needs to leave the department but she is close to retirement and just trying to ride out the situation. No way would I put up with the manager's antics. Story: Manager is trying to not allow an internal transfer of a worker because the department is short staffed. Company allows for internal transfers and promotions. She is trying to block it and is now jeopardizing the person's new job. Old co-worker (different co-worker from the person that relayed the story) applied for a new position within the company and offered a promotion in title and new job duties. (He also now gets to work a hybrid schedule. Good for him). The only stipulation was that both new and old managers needed to agree on a transfer date. Company…
went to an interview today
i was berated by the interviewer for not “reading up on company trivia” and was stuck for an extended period of time while she bragged about their philanthropy. don’t get me wrong, i love when companies donate to charity and such. but i’m fucking broke. i just need a job.
Reduction of pay.
What is an employee to do if his employer wants and is cutting his hourly rate? The justification is meager at most. I don’t think they are providing anything in writing either.

Is this true?
Title says it all. I’m appealing my termination but honestly I feel like suing the company based off of discrimination of my disability. Where can a low income worker perhaps get some free representation? Where can I find employment lawyers on a low-budget?
leave my job?
I get many job offers paying 90k a year. I rly like my boss and my job but the pay is 67k or 74 since they're financing half my degree. Now, i have told him that i am tempted to leave. The real reason I've been looking to leave is my misogynistic colleague who treats me like shit even if all hell breaks loose once i go. He has offered me a 7k raise and next year another 6k on top giving me 80 next year since I'll write my masterthesis next year the 7 extra k from education will no longer be expenses for them. I said ok. However ass co worker drew my last straw today. I wanna leave anyway – i wish i could just quit and disappear into a thousand bats like dracula. Why is work so important and gives me anxiety when if it were…
