How can I be lazy at work?
I work as a cashier at a grocery store, but I'm also a bagger now because the courtesy clerks don't do their jobs. I'm just so done of getting treated like crap, that i don't even care anymore. I used to, but realized that there's nothing to care about. The managers treat me like crap, I'm working myself to death doing two jobs ringing groceries 100 mph and bagging really fast, etc. I'm just done with it. Done caring. Done putting my health last, done being drop dead tired for doing two jobs at once
Been working for a distribution center for the last ten years never left because prior to COVID it was at least DECENT pay honestly I don’t feel right saying that lol but back breaking work for 17-18 bucks but like BACK breaking. but after inflation rent gas and groceries I simply cannot survive off what we’re making my monthly income barley covers rent, yet they’re holding meetings about us smashing record sales and quotas being through the roof, every employee is struggling but like most of us in this world we have little ones to think about and just can’t up and quit, any advice as to how I could go about this, I asked for a raise like 9 months ago and was told they can’t do anything else for me. Or that they would see what they can do….. yeah sure.
My boyfriend just went to work, apparently he wasn’t on the schedule for today. He said they kept him and gave him more sections than he’s had to do on his own before, he just started not long ago. Can they made him stay on an unscheduled day? This can’t be right, right? My bad if this isn’t allowed, I’m just not sure where else to post without hearing a ton of kiss ass to the employer LOL
Two weeks’ notice or nah?
I’ve never understood the logic behind why some companies decide to fire an employee right away if they give 2 weeks’ notice. Is it a power trip thing? It’s kind of like how when my friend’s company was furloughed during 2020 and then went back to working fulltime in 2021; one of her coworkers didn’t want to work fulltime so she asked to stay on as a part-time employee. They opted to instead fire her instead and then her department ended up being understaffed and overworked for months. Keeping her on as a part-time employee would have been better than losing her entirely, right? Anyways, wouldn’t it be in a company’s best interest to hold onto their employees for as long as they can? Why fire them only to lose that labor earlier AND then also have to pay out severance?
Here’s how bad it is

When I started working at my current company ten years ago, I was averaging 55-60 hrs/wk, however, after not receiving a raise since 2019, I've decided to cut back to 30-35 hrs/wk and no one even notices. LOL. Gone are the days of making additional work for myself and being pro-active. I work remotely and run sales for this very small company, but am also heavily involved with Marketing and Operations.
Long story short, this company has been around for forever but its changed leadership numerous times. The latest leadership decided to move from Short hills, NJ to Jacksonville, FL. Now, out of the blue, every CA remote employee was giving an ultimatum. Either move to Jacksonville by sep 2022 (for less pay since the cost of living is less) or you are laid off as of July 15 and will be given your severance accordingly. Please, if you know people who work for or with this company, share this info. This is just outrageous considering even my boss's boss and leadership who has been there over a decade is affected and being laid off. Company loyalty has gone out the window. This is so unprofessional of them.
I’ve been working at a little mom and pop shop since last August as a prep cook. Back in February the old owner “Kevin” retired and sold the shop. Now we have 5 owners. Kevin genuinely cared for his employees. We were all very taken care of. He didn’t require us to take a lunch break. We’d have some down time in between tasks to take a smoke break or eat if we wanted too. We were welcome too take a lunch if we wanted one but it wasn’t required. Most of the up front employees would take a lunch but the back of house people wouldn’t. When the new owners took over they notified us that if we work 8 hours we need to take a lunch break. For the first few months I would work just under 8 hours so I didn’t have to take a break. The…
