So I was working at my job at the supermarket where I mostly do returns, one of the the higher ups told the manager I was putting items in the wrong spot and shouldn't be in returns, basically putting me on blast and I heard it. It was a really awkward position to be in. The truth is that yes, I'm not amazing at returns because I don't know where many of the items go and I have to scan items constantly to know which isle they go in. I sometimes put items in the wrong spot when I can't find their proper location. I didn't of course try to defend myself. What she said to the manager was a bit uncharitable but pretty accurate at the same time. I thought I wasn't that bad, but I guess I'm not good at this. I'm kinda worried that I'll get fired.…

Don’t be afraid to make requests
Maybe a small win compared to others on this sub but I have an interview tomorrow and they originally asked if I’d do a video interview. I said I feel like my resume speaks a lot for me and to really know if it’s a good fit id like to interview in person. They said completely understandable. We have more power now than we ever have and it’s great to be a 23 yo recent college grad building their career. Hopefully eventually I won’t have to work but if I do I’ll be respected and happy at my job!
they had extra money
So they took management out to Disneyland. They're given a certain amount of money per year to do things for employees. Pizza parties, icecream, etc etc. Stuff for worker moral. They had a bunch extra so instead of doing literally anything they all just ditched us and went to Disney for a week. Love that for them
We were sent these surveys that are supposedly “anonymous” via email and that we can share our thoughts without the fear of repercussion. Yet I have to create a unique login and password to take the survey in the first place. Personally, that was my first gigantic red flag, what anonymous survey needs a login and password? Also, I don't trust my company anymore than Charles Mason with coolaid in a commune. So far I have been biting my tongue due to the fact I don't think they are anonymous. Other than giving my employer the answers they seek, what can I do?
Considering quitting after this and I was just promoted, I have been at this job for almost 3 years and the new owners have absolutely no concern for anyones safety. I work at a CARWASH with absolutely no where for us to comfortably be away from this storm on top of most of us living 30+ minutes away. Corporate sent out an email today to my boss stating that we needed to come in on the days the hurricane will be hitting us “we just need to cut staff down and expect less cars” ???? Who in their right mind is coming to get a carwash during a hurricane?? I make decent money but I'm getting to my breaking point, they've reduced everything that brought us tips, promised raises 3+ months ago with nothing in sight due to lost wages, and now this.
Clueless management 101
My kid, 17, got a dress code violation at work today because a decal on his shirt showed a half inch behind his apron. (Corporate coffee place) This was after he left school an hour early, on his day off, to cover for a sick co-worker. My response was for him to say “next time there’s an emergency, don’t ask me”.
I hate full-time jobs.
For context, I'm 19F and don't have much I need to pay for. I don't have a car, so I don't have to pay for car insurance. Due to COVID, my health insurance is free (because in my state, if you were 18 or under, your insurance froze during the pandemic. It's still frozen.) I'm single. No kids. I've worked two full-time jobs, and I hate them. I never have time to do anything. Like, what? Am I supposed to eat, bathe, etc for an hour, go to work for the entire rest of the day, and then come home and do dishes and then go to bed? Talk about a boring and meaningless life. I got a new “part-time” job, and I was excited about it. Then I had my first day today and got my schedule. They gave me 40-hour weeks again. I was told I was working…
