In my previous job I was an engineer that spent my first few years doing drawing review and design work. It was engaging enough for my first job out of college but after multiple departures of other engineers and management shifts I found myself in what was known as the worst position in my department. It was basically a data entry and analysis position. Physical boxes of data would come in and it needed to be entered into a database. No real engineering involved, just days of entering data and a few papers documenting the findings. Every single person to do it prior felt it was too much for one person, it was boring, and left the company. This happened today. I drive lorries for a living, and I work for a company that delivers car parts to all the big name car franchises. I drive the same route every day, same franchises every time (6 of them). This suits me because I like knowing what I’m going to be doing (I’m diagnosed with ASD). Today I get to franchise number 4 and I can’t gain entry because they’ve changed the padlock, this one is 5 digits instead of 4. I call the office and this is how the conversation goes: Me: I’m at [franchise 4], have you got the new code for the padlock as it’s been changed since I was last here. Manager: Yes it’s ****. Me: That’s the old code. I’ll have to refuse delivery and it can be delivered tomorrow. Manager: You can’t do that. You’ll have to go and do the other 2…

Ok so about a month ago I quit my job working at a t shirt printing company. Today I received my last paycheck with was already a month behind and I find out he took 187 for uniforms. I was given no notice to this and after asking around I found out I am the only one he has EVER charged for uniforms. I feel like he is doing this because I quit without giving him notice but is this legal?? Like is there anything I can do? TIA

What the title says, really. I’m in the the job market because my current job is a chaotic awful mess and our pay raises are not at all in line with inflation. I’ve done so many job interviews this year where I get interviewed by people in HR who don’t know the first thing about what data scientists do. Today I was asked to describe my years of experience with “this software on [your] resume called … data …mining??” (not my experience WITH data mining, they seemed to think I was using some program called Data Mining.) I also feel like i keep getting questions that are the equivalent of “oh so you like legend of Zelda? Name ALL the games!”, just change that to “you say you’re a data scientist?
