How do you handle snark from superiors?
Just a reminder to remind everyone else that this holiday is about Celebrating the Labor Movement. Remind people how important Unions have been and how important they should be moving forward. The American Union System has crumbled under the weight of Anti-Union laws and regulations meant to destroy the Working Classes ability to compete or bargain in the workplace for better pay, working conditions, safety and benefits. At least read up on it and consider talking about it with others.
For context she is a hairstylist. Her boss had her bring in a model to get some exposure thru the various social medias. The whole project took around 8 hours on her day off and towards the end her boss was rushing her out the door telling her that she was keeping everyone else in the salon but was also getting her hair done (the boss). She never signed any sort of paperwork for the project. Just wondering if this is illegal or anything?
Hi everyone, I work at a company (in the US) that has currently been in the news due to their union busting activity. I had a big mental breakdown, I didn't hurt or harass anyone. But I tend to have problems with controlling my tone when I'm upset or stressed, so I apparently was coming off as aggressive. I was sent home and, given some of their talk of contacting the DM, I have a feeling they are going to try and fire me over it. What should I do to protect myself in case they do? I have yet to be able to check my hours for the day, but there is a chance I was worked for 3+ hours with no break as I clocked on early. I was also being told the I need to take a medical leave of absence and that I had to wait…
when i first started this job last holiday season, i was doing one specific task and working about 30 hours a week. i loved it! it was physical work but very satisfying and invigorating. then christmas came and went and the deliveries i'd been working on slowed down. i was trained for other work, did well and was given a full-time position. i was also happy with this arrangement but then they started fucking with me. in one given day, i work (almost simultaneously) three jobs now. i usually have to unload or process part of a delivery, get whatever was on that delivery out on the floor and get called to work the cash while i do it all. last week after unloading a particularly full truck, i was sent to be on cash. i was tired and sweaty and serving customers while thinking 'you know this is bullshit,…
mild irritation
I recently told my job I was leaving. I was told that I should’ve let them know about my two weeks notice earlier. That just really irritated me— you need a two week notice of my two week notice?
Help! How do I confront a coworker?
How do I confront a coworker without losing my 1 day off? My work allows us to take 1 day off and trade coverage with another coworker. Ethel (not real name) has been my partner and it's always been great. Recently, another coworker (Harold) has told us he wanted to start trading as well. We were all a little hesitant as in the past he has been known to be one to complain if everything wasn't done on his desk that day. Our coverage are more along the lines of get emergency situations taken care of, and whatever else you can do. This is agreed to by our boses and in our handbook. Most everyone knows it's not perfect coverage and that is fine. Our jobs are also the type where customers complain/get upset fairly regularly and that's just how it is. We do what we can to help people…
This has been an ongoing issue I first reported over the phone to my HR manager I believed I was being overpaid he sent off the issue to someone higher than him and now on my latest check 2 months later I have been reduced in pay without notice and they have retroactively taken back some wages. Ive had little success finding out how much I owe and I am still being overpaid it is very frustrating not knowing where I stand in terms of true compensation and how much of this I need to payback HR cannot answer this instead they’re sending it off to corporate who probably won’t answer for another two months. I made a claim to the Department Of Labor yesterday under the claim my wages were reduced without written notice. I am a returning employee of the business and my boss has lead me to…
