Head Office stole my design, any advice?

I work for a nationwide franchise, we'll call them… HDS. I work as a Graphic Designer. For just this franchise. There are 400+ franchises across the Canada. I designed a floor decal back in March to replace Covid stickers that were being removed from the floor. They were sent to Head Office to print and send back to us. Yesterday, Head Office sent out updated store posters for every store to print and replace the old ones with. One of the designs is mine from the floor decal I had done. It's 100% mine. I opened both files and compared, they're the EXACT same. Head Office has their own graphic designer for nationwide stuff like this. And they straight up took my design. In my contract, it says nothing of intellectual property. I'm basically “Employee #275” and the only difference is my pay and my title. Nothing in the contract…

Mouse jigglers are life savers!!!

Calling all remote workers: I just came across (so it's new to me) something called a mouse jiggler. I don't want to break any rules but I haven't seen a previous post about it so I thought I'd share. Just search “mouse jiggler” in Amazon (not sure if posting a link would cause me to break any rules.) My work laptop goes to sleep and logs me out after 5 minutes and it's preset. I just find it really annoying, especially since I'm at home and don't have to worry about privacy concerns. Obviously don't use this in public or at the office but I finally have freedom to use the bathroom and not be logged out when I get back to work, or god forbid I grab a snack. Hope this helps!!!

What would you do with one million?

This is definitely the sub that I expect will have some good answers. Two chicks at the same time ain’t it. You wake up tomorrow with one million dollars in your bank account. No one else knows. It is yours. What do you do with it? I’m asking as I am trying to put together some anecdotal evidence for UBI and the benefits to our society. Thanks!

So I work for a major insurance company. I’m pretty much a licensed insurance agent that works from home. Call center type thing. The company is pretty much selling us to a third party company, and if we don’t go we will be “voluntarily resigning”. Is this allowed?

We are being sold to an outside vendor so that the main company can save money because they “lost a billion dollars” last quarter. They mean in profit but they don’t say that. They have already jacked rates on customers to try to cover those losses, and now they are trying to save by outsourcing our work. Are they allowed to do this without our consent? Also, if we don’t want to go to this new company, would that really qualify as a voluntary resignation? They said no about severance. We are losing our pension. Losing out on PTO days. And our benefits will definitely be impacted. This is pretty much being done against our will. Just doesn’t seem right to me.

Fired but expected to work there for indeterminate amount of time?

I was just “fired” today in a meeting with my supervisor and their boss. I work in an office environment (hybrid wfh) and it was over zoom. They said that I was being terminated—but they didn’t have the date or final approval yet. I work for a mid-size company that is owned by a mega-bank. They said they are just waiting for it to go through HR from the bank side. I was very confused and asked if I needed to bring all of my equipment to the office today. They said no, not yet. Just continue working as normal until we have the termination date. They said it could be a few weeks. LOL. Ok. So, I’m getting fired but expected to bust my ass for a few weeks? I should just stop working since the outcome will be the same, right? Maybe just appear online and send a…

Here’s the propaganda wagon in full effect

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/quiet-quitters-getting-quiet-fired-132216943.html So first the propaganda wave was about return to office, declines in productivity, worrying about what workers were doing (we were still working, just with way more balance and less stress). Then we started hearing about “quiet quitting” which is the horrendous concept of doing your fucking job and not busting your ass just to be denied a raise or promotion. We all saw the articles. “Gen Z and Millenials are quiet quitting”. Its utter bullshit. NOW the propaganda is saying “if you're a quiet quitter or remote worker you're getting fired first”. Now look, I have a great career and make good money (and am extremely thankful due to very humble beginnings) but it doesn't take a fucking genius to see this is the elites trying to stifle the workforce and crash the economy so they can do another upwards wealth transfer and create scarcity to oppress wages.…
