Remote work help

Hey people. So i am on the last stages of my PhD and afterwards i am going to probably get an “industrial” job here in Europe. I know lots of you are US based, but since work policies there seem way more screwed, i was wondering what tips can you give me regarding remote work, specially related to surveillance software. Cheers.

What are some good experiences with you had with your previous (or current) employers?

There were 2 occasions where I was given as much time as I needed to stay out of work, while I was getting paid, I don't wanna talk about the first one but the latter one was when I caught covid. There were few drawbacks for sure, but in general they were very empathic.

I do not care what my coworkers think of this. I think the peer-pressure and office-gossip angles were subtly leveraged against…

Former employer dragging their feet about paying me…for work I did a year ago

Hey Reddit, what am I supposed to do? I worked for a Wal-Mart last Holiday season while I was in College and needed some spending money for the holiday. They never mailed my check. I ended up wondering where the fuck my check was and by March I emailed asking where it was. HR and the woman who hired me couldn't find it or even me as a fucking employee. When I ended up getting it I was May. The check expired. They kept saying they would mail me another check. They never did. It's been 11 months, I finally emailed today and said “when can I expect this to be done?” “Not today, maybe in two weeks.  Please, Email me in two weeks..” I really want to reply “okay, I'll be sure to CC my lawyer when I do.” What am I supposed to do to get my fucking…
