I couldn’t find a link to this recent ad I saw from Indeed, but I wanted to see if anyone had noticed it. I think they’re all ridiculous, but this new one took the cake for “W-T-F???” I won’t like screenplay the whole thing here, but it basically involves the following: A black male is being interviewed by another, and when the interviewer stops to ask about his gap in employment, it cuts away to what looks like him in jail, slaving away at a computer with no narration of the flashback whatsoever. It then cuts back to the interview, and we’re left with her saying something to the extent of, “I understand… let’s talk about how you’d be a great fit with your skills here at the company.” I’m left thinking, “what the fuck just happened?” Like many Indeed ads, they come across, in my opinion, not only as…

overpaid and under qualified
I'm not quite sure this is the right forum, so delete if not allowed. I work in an office environment and my manager quit a few weeks ago. I have taken over the his email account to ensure that nothing is missed and we can have access to history. I was going through trying to find someone's contact details and I came across the hiring paperwork for one of my coworkers including her contract and salary. The email chain had a huge amount back and forth internally continuously upping the offer to be made to her prior to her hiring. Since my manager left, there is only two of us left in the department and they are not planning on hiring a manager at the moment due to the need to reduce overheads. Therefore, we are being required to pick up the slack and cover the managers role. At first,…
Every Corporate mindset
Long-time lurker, first-time poster. I'm on the second step of interviewing for a writing position that would pay a salary that's more than double my previous wage. This step entails creating a blog post related to their field, to show them what I can do. They gave me almost a full week to do it, but I took a few hours from my weekend to finish it so I could submit it early. Before /r/antiwork, I would've left it at that. Now, I can't help seeing this as doing what I usually do in my profession, except for free. Please note that I don't expect them to steal it from me, as they asked for a much lower word count than they use for their actual blog. Still, it wasn't nothing! The idea of offering a free sample doesn't sit right with me anymore (and they could also base a…
What companies are pro-union?
I was researching REI since I’ve been shopping there a decent amount, and I come to find that, of course, they’re union busters. Just like every company I’ve ever worked for. Anybody know of any companies that actually give a fuck?
I have this boss—let’s call him Don. Off the cuff, Don was very unprofessional. He was high during our first meeting (it was over Zoom, and we are in California, so it’s legal). At the time, I thought it was cool, that this would be a lax and creative environment, but now all I see are red flags. After a few days, I realize he’s a complete space cadet. He would forget what he was talking about in the middle of talking about it, constantly. He would always reschedule meetings, then not show up at all, ignore messages, and then message hours later expecting you to be ready at that moment for a meeting. It could be 9 o’clock at night, but he would chastise you for not being ready. He would always make passive aggressive comments about the camera needing to be on even when it was really late…
Joined a healthcare startup in India as a health coach, Everything was smooth, I was really good at my job but my manager was feeling insecure because I was able to improve the company policies and operations in a very short span of time. She started being rude and sarcastic, often screaming and shouting at me for literally doing my job (Giving dietary advise to clients) I asked for a group discussion so we can sort out her behaviour issues since the team working under me (Customer Care) was complaining about her behaviour issues as well, She refused and asked me to send her an email with all the issues instead, I insisted for a group discussion since that would not personally hurt anyone but she wanted me to send an email, so I sent it out, 1 month after sending out the email she called me and asked me…
