Can I add an inflation adjustment fee to my salary and send my employer to collections if they refuse to pay? But in all seriousness, legally speaking why can a company change terms whenever they want then punish me for non compliance.
Month: October 2022
so I started working at a store similair to sephora and the work culture, especially the manager is absolutely awful with no regards to a balance work/life, forcing me to work 40+hrs on a zero hr contract while I told her from the get-go my max hrs which she's now denying I ever did. On top of that her personality towards me has become absolutely rude and unreasonable in just 2 weeks, and she keeps firing people for speaking up and hiring new people, which I was one of. My contract (that I haven't signed yet) says I can just quit whatsoever on the spot without giving any reason in the first 2 months as my manager can do so also. I want to quit tomorrow tho I was wondering if it would be better (regarding payment) if I quit with or without handing in a signed contract? Can she…
Legitimacy of the Employee Handbooks
So, a little background: worked for a company for over 2 years as main receptionist/HR Admin/Payroll and recently had an offer elsewhere to be an office manager. I put in my two weeks notice because our handbook states that vacation time is earned and any leftover will be paid out if you’ve given said notice. I had 5 days approved before I put in notice but ended up quitting before using it. Now they’re trying to say vacations are pro-rated even though that’s not what the handbook says and wrote me a check for 3.6 days. I know I can’t force them to do anything but just curious how much water it holds if I point it out in their own literature.
Business analyst buzzwords?
Hi I don’t know if this is the right place to ask but I have interview soon and have to fake experience as an analyst…any buzzwords or phrases that are go-to’s? This is just the phone interview so it shouldn’t been too rigorous, just need to survive this and I can look into it more. (And before anyone is up in arms yes I know I shouldn’t have lied but it was something I needed to do after not hitting anything for months due to gap in resume. The second I got it filled I was getting interviews.)
What the actual fuck? I have to get a graduate degree just to make slightly above what middle class is?? How do we not see how fucked this is? Fuck capitalism. I hate this system with every fiber of my being. I’m literally trying to do a job that requires a lot of hard work and reading but I still make less than a fucking landlord? I can’t wait until capitalism destroys itself. I yearn for the day
Worked at well known Lamp Store (years ago). The issue was sales people complaining how long it took us to get a fixture from the back warehouse to the store front. Sale people knew what kind of fixture it was, us warehouse people had to look it up, find the proper bay, then find the SKU number on the box. When the manager asked “how we can shorten the time to get the product to the customer?” I suggested that us in the back don’t care what kind of fixture it is (down light, chandelier, etc…) we only needed the SKU number. So how about we just re organize the warehouse to be SKU number base, and not fixture type base? She said that was not feasible, as the warehouse was too big (it was TINY! 6 bays about 8’x12’) Prior I worked in some huge warehouses. I said I…
I work very hard as a senior level salary professional. I don’t mix personal and work life and do a pretty good job this. I get my work done professionally and on time, on budget. My company when management is in insists we all go out to lunch. They do pay, but an hour of this is more like an hour and half, it ruins my workflow, and I’d rather check a couple things, personally on my lunch break, and make sure my work is done on time so I don’t have to work later. This happens a couple times a week. How do I stop this pattern before it becomes worse?

New manager, even the other managers dislike her, and she wants us to keep our phones in the office. Aside from the obvious disrespect, two of our people are dad, and myself and another guy go through medical problems and we require our phone on us – I have to carry around an epi pen and I am in very much pain. We also don't work in a great place and I use Uber so my phone is the only way home.
