(CW: Vent) I'm hunting for a marketing internship, and the sheer amount of accounts I'm forced to make to apply is insane. Personally, I will just skip the application if I have to make an account. I have no desire to fill up my inbox with spam emails from whatever third party site you sell my information too, and it's a hassle enough that I don't care what the pay is. I'm not applying and I wish companies would stop doing this. Maybe it's not the biggest deal, but I've started to consider it a red flag. That, and the fact that even after submitting my resume, I still have to input all the information on it! Just read the damn resume!!

I’m on a shoot for a massive company, spending millions of dollars for a 60 second commercial. The hours I’m expected to work are heinous. I’ve been in the industry for 3 years now, so I’m used to the 14-18+ hour days, short turnaround, and general exhaustion. When I’m on shoots that are creatively fulfilling, the pay and people make me stick around. But this last job has me ready to leave the industry. I have been working 7 days straight, and I finally have a day off. But I’ve been bombarded with calls and emails all day that I’m expected to answer because everything is so urgent on this project. I had a major breakdown because I’m missing the birth of my niece, my dad is in the hospital, and I can’t afford to move to a new apartment even though I don’t have a life outside of work.…

I currently work in hospitality but have a more stable 9-5 job lined up, to be started soon. I told my current job, worked a longer notice period than I had to because I didn’t want to leave them short, and am still working a bunch of shifts and come in to help on days I’m scheduled to be off. I find it really hard to say no. They ring to ask me to come in at bad moments so I’m caught off guard and can’t think of a reason to say no. As I’m leaving soon this shouldn’t be an issue, but they’ve already discussed keeping me on the rota and that I can work Friday and Saturday evenings to help them out. I didn't really know where else to put this. I feel like I really want to let this out because no one I know can really understand the situation I am in and since this community is mostly left-wing, anti-capitalist and against employee exploitation, I figured I give this a go. I don't want to disclose so much so I will make sure to be a bit vague. I am a 25 year old gay man and come from a country where people like me can be persecuted. I suffered massive amount of PTSD, depression and anxiety, and worked really really hard to get out of there. I even had to put my unaccepting family, who I was always brought up to love no matter what, at a distance. I struggled so much to get a job and finally landed one in this small company. I want this job in quality assurance at a pet food company but I dont have any experience. I know that I can do the job with the training I'll receive but they want someone with 1 year experience. I'm having a hard time coming up with a convincing lie about my year of experience in quality assurance. Or if there is another r/sub that would be better suited for me please let me know.
