This all started in June '22, and will end tomorrow Oct '22. I tried to cut the saga down but it's still a long explaination… TLDR: I'm quitting the job I've had for 16 years tomorrow. For the last 16 years I have worked for a well known grocery store based out of the Chicagoland area. I work further south in an area the company couldn't really care less about. Earlier this year we got a new Store Director (SD) that came from “up North.” This was his first store as a freshman SD and we knew that he most likely cut a deal to spend around 5 years here before he was promoted back to a store that actually made money. After a few months I went to him and asked for a raise, 16 years working for the company and I was making $14.90. Just my luck, another…
Month: October 2022
Said that if I or someone else have a problem, they can get the fuck out. I have been working with the company for 19 months, out of those, 10 months I worked in an office by myself until I was recruited to start another division of the company. It’s the worst mistake I’ve made in my entire life. He offered me a salary and said we’d work a lot, for the first 4 months I was the only employee with him and his brother and I had to literally clean after them, even if it wasn’t my mess, I was overworked to the point of being at the company 7 days a week. After 6 months, they finally hired someone new, and the new employee lasted 30 days cause he grew sick and tired of this person’s way of working. He makes you feel like you need to do…
Effective 5/2023 for CA employers!
I want to work remotely as I don’t like working with people or for people and different attitudes and personalities. I have a bachelors degree in speech language pathology, which I got in May 2021. Or are there jobs where I don’t have to work directly with people, a job that is slow paced….
Getting your facts straight
The hammer and sickle represents physical labor/ the sharing of labor. Communism is built off the back of physical labor yet everyone gets paid the same even if your were a custodian or a banker. Communism is a terrible thing and you should not legitimately support the beliefs of Karl Marx, Lenin, or Stalin
I just need to vent. Realistically, I have a cake job. I work fully remote, I have a 4/10 schedule, my employer doesn’t have the capacity to monitor my keystrokes or mouse movements, and as long as I do my work and produce results everyone is happy. I do take pride in my work, and I do happily take on extra projects occasionally, and offer my help where I can. I spend a good amount of time on this sub, and a few other remote work related subs, and am acutely aware of how lucky I am, though the pay is garbage. As mentioned, since the pay is garbage, I run a business on the days of the week that I don’t work for my employer. It’s been a very busy summer, and I’ve been fully booked since April, and my schedule remains fully booked into November. Since I have…
Got rejected after 7 interviews
So I applied for a job as a software developer at this company where I was supposed to work on an app that allows patients to talk to doctors over video calls. Here’s how it went Interview 1: Spoke to the recruiter around 45 minutes discussing my experience & expectations. Interview 2: Spoke to someone from the company. Discussed my experience & expectations. Interview 3: 2 hours long live coding exercise over a video call with screen share. Had to make an app from scratch with given requirements. Interview 4: 2 hours long interview where I discussed my coding assignment and answered other questions. Interview 5: 30 mins long culture fit interview. Interview 6: Another 30 minutes long culture fit interview. Interview 7: An hour long Interview with Founders. And here’s the most fun part – they rejected me because I was not passionate enough about medical record systems. Are…
“Work life balance” – this job demanded 70-80+ hours and recently “capped” the hours to 60. This is the keychain to reward and commemorate that decision.
