I know we all hate our jobs and that we all think our work is bullshit but I need to share the BS from my job because I think it’s legitimately outrageous and just demonstrates peak capitalist So I work help desk for a healthcare company. It’s a glorified call center job but I’m doing it so I can say I worked help desk for a year and can move on to something better. These are the requirements: I must have an average call time of five minutes. If it goes longer than that, I immediately have one or two of my leads message me on teams asking what the hold up is. Within these five minutes, I must also gather information from the caller (name, phone number, address) and try and troubleshoot the issue, and try and document and route tickets as best as I can. As you can…
Month: November 2022
I had someone today turn down a position after I revealed to the selected applicant that it had no PTO or holiday pay. And honestly? I couldn't be happier for them. Fuck an organization that doesn't want to provide the bare minimum to its employees. I'll use their denial rationale and rub it in our department's face to either pay our employees more or advocate for their benefit.
Around 4pm, my boss asked me to have a tea time at a cafe near a office. In my previous posts, my jobs are dealing with all requirements from the store and sales. Technically, the sales is about having partnership with brands that are not able to run stores so that they can use the zones in my company's building. I was able to have many meetings with the clients, but nothing was successful. To be honest, the store of my company has no appealing options for them to give money and put their products as a pop up store. This afternoon, my boss warned me that I should make some profits for the company and stop caring about the operation work of the store. Instead of talking to the manager directly, he wanted the manager to Kakao him in open chat. He found the way I work with the…
I'm working for an employer in the US who has a digital company, he hires mostly people from other countries because it's cheaper labor and he's also a cheapskate. I'm from a third world country, and I work for him for X10 less money he'd have to pay an American for the same job. I'm not under a contract because he refused to give me a contract, but we are on a verbal and written agreement of full time job. Now this guy is giving me unpaid “weeks off” when he doesn't have enough work (he can always overwork his other slaves anyway). This pisses me off because I depend on this job to eat and to pay rent. As per the laws of my country (and I think US too, correct me if I'm wrong) he must pay me a retainer salary for the days I'm not working since…
So just as the description states- Wednesday I got an email that I had an employee action and it describes that I will no longer earn any personal leave. I also looked at my last pay check and they have taken away the personal leave I earned this pay period. Is this legal? What can I do? Other coworkers got the same email, no prior conversation or email about this occurring. The effective date is the date of our hires. There are other coworkers who this didn’t happen to.
Advising ppl to quit
I feel like ppl gotta be less quick to consistently say someone’s best option when their company’s being a dick to them is to quit. In a better world where there were actual supports for the unemployed I’d def agree, but it just comes across as tone-deaf considering it’s often not easy to get another job and people often need the stability even if the job itself is shit. It’s just strange how many people seem to be under the impression that’s a reasonable option to most people stuck in shitty jobs considering the reason people tend to be in those jobs in the first place is because of lack of other options…
Things are getting bad
I've decided to grow my own food to save money and I had no idea until recently this is what people did in the great depression due to such terrible wages etc.
