Got into an argument with a customer…
For context: I work both GameStop and Wendys. Tonight i worked at Wendys. Guy comes in orders a baconator without bacon. I accidentally hit the button for no cheese. Fine, my bad. Then he starts inspecting the sandwiches he ordered more and sees they are a little pink (we do have a WELL DONE option but customers have to request it). So he starts calling my supervisor a bitch and criticizing the sandwich makers saying they don’t know how to make sandwiches. I confront him about calling my supervisor a bitch and he starts copping an attitude with me. I tell him he needs to leave and he threatens to break my glasses and punch me in my face. My supervisor who very much so was trying not to confront the guy tries to get me to work on the next order but I’m focused on the guy who just…
90 day review on my own time?
Question for you all: I am an hourly, per diem employee at a newer job. My supervisor recently sent me an email to my personal account, requesting that I print, sign and return his 90 day evaluation of me. I am not a WFH employee. I feel that I should be getting paid for this evaluation and should not have to use my own personal equipment to complete this. Am I wrong to think this way? I'm in the US. I know it's a little thing, but I don't want him to think I will be working for free in the future.
Sad & scary true story for your Halloween weekend: (part 2 in comments) … Guy I know is one of the finest human beings I know. In my mind, he's just a rock of integrity and good. He lives and works in a small-ish rural community ~10k population in city limits, ~30k in the surrounding county and local area that makes their community. In many ways that community is like my friend: good. Through and through, good people, good solid sustainable local economy, good government and schools, good solid well maintained and supported infrastructure on all levels. Heck, people and businesses proudly and willingly pay their taxes honestly to contribute their financial support to this place. This is the place where I was first exposed to the idea that a solid well run business is a “corporate citizen” where a local business owner said in all earnest un-ironic veracity that…
Being asked to risk COVID (again)
A few months ago my job “encouraged” everyone to come in because we had some VIPs on site and they wanted to fill the building with bodies. Normally I work in the office (it’s half empty on a good day) but I decided to work from home that day. I was mainly worried about being around all the people for anxiety reasons so I told my bosses I wasn’t going to come in. I was questioned about it in that “what is it about the crowd that bothers you?” kind of way. I responded with “Are you telling me I am required to come in?” and he danced around the question because he couldn’t risk giving me a definite yes or no, so I took that as a no. They had a big to-do with two gatherings of everyone together for lunch and a meeting. I was told that not…
Didn’t get an interview while on leave
I worked at this company for a few years and I'm really trying to get a new job. They had a job opening for the position above mine that I had tried to get before and I was excited to hopefully get paid a decent amount. I applied and a few days later I'm in the ER getting emergency surgery. I come back a week later, no one filled the position! I was hopeful! No interview scheduled, no one updated me on anything. Now here is our new lead! Cool. Everyone else who applied got an interview and a shot, except for me. I have been working here the longest and have been doing above and beyond what I should've been doing But nope, they don't care about any of that at all. Are they even allowed to just forget about me? I thought I was dying in the hospital…
