This might be an unpopular opinion, but there are too many people in this sub that justify the exploitation of someone’s labor

Just because you are not responsible for the exploitive system, does not absolve you from using it to benifit yourself, at the cost of a fellow worker. This is an act of violence against the working class and makes you a class traitor. Is the tipped minimum wage an abusive and explotive system? Yes. Does this mean the owners who use it are explotive and abusive? Yes. Should the system be changed? Abso-fucking-lutly. Does this mean if you don't tip you are also exploiting the servers labor and directly harming them? Yes.

How many of the community’s members are self-employed craftsmans?

Hello! I see a lot of posts about inhumane conditions in sweatshops and katorgas (like Amazon). Does anybody tried to work for themselves? Recently I had a talk with my schoolmate from my hometown. When he finished school and then college, he went to typical 5/2 and 9:00 to 18:00 office job – and it was terrible for him. Constant emotional pressure, manipulation (by fear of firing) and so on. Then he decided that “F*ck this sh*t!” and for 2-3 months begun as a renovator's apprentice (because not every human is familiar with coding and IT stuff, and IT is not universal “cure” for career). When in office his salary was like 80k RUB (much more than average in Russia), and first 3-4 months as assistant/apprentice he earned like 50k RUB, but after half of a year his earnings exceeded 120-140k RUB per month and up. By word-of-a-mouth his earning…

Advice on calling out

So my manager(I am an ASM) is taking off for a vacation for a week, starting Monday(today is Tuesday) We only have one other person who can close, so I work every day for the next ten days because she couldn’t get anyone to come help from another store. I was supposed to have Sunday off(I’m always off Sunday) to go to my grandmas birthday celebration but she said it would mess with her vacation time. Would I be horrible if I called out before Monday just to give myself a break and make sure I’m able to see my grandma?

Sbux manager who arrives late / leaves early has the audacity to send this message while Indiana is under a winter storm warning

Winter storm warning: – Slick/hazardous travel likely – Stay off the roads, use caution in emergencies – Keep winter safety kit in your car In effect from 1am tomorrow to 7 pm. Manager sends out this message today: “Hello there! So we know there is a winter storm warning in effect from 1p – 7p. What does this mean for us?? It means we plan ahead. We set our alarms early so we have the time we need to dig out our cars and to have plenty of time to drive in to work. If there is a hill in our driveway? We park our car at the bottom. Bad weather happens. The best part of living in the future???? We know it’s coming and we can prepare.” Starbucks has long lost their ability to even pretend they care about their “partners”

The company I work for just laid off 1,300 people this morning with no notice

Excuse me for any typos or errors as I am on mobile typing this. I work for a fairly new vacation company and so far, my experience hasn’t been great. I have worked here since July of 2022 and I work front desk so you can assume the stereotypical people I deal with. This morning, our CEO decided to send out a cryptic email to everyone working to join and get an “update” of the new company regulations. This happened around 11AM and they decided, by no surprise at all, to fire a huge amount of people to make more of a profit. 17% of the company was just let go with no warning to these people that are working to survive. This is how this CEO worded this layoff. It was over a zoom meeting and titled “Company All Hands”, starting off with “this needs to be confidential and…
