I used to work in a pharmaceutical company where I had the job of meeting doctors along with medical representatives and answer any questions they might have on the drug (latest research, market feedback, latest guidelines, etc). It was an 8 hour job with slightly above basic pay. I got so good at doing this that my 1st boss asked me to train the local sales reps whenever I visited a city. I got to fly all over the country and together with the sales reps, tried to sell our brands. I was now in-charge of doing all that without a bump in pay or promotion (denied because “you’re not ready”). My seniors and colleagues actually asked my boss to promote me but he would never give a straight answer. Time passed and I had built such a reputation that even the medical department sometimes asked for my help. My…

I sold all of my DIS shares…
I sold all of my Disney shares. I am not going to be associated with an “innovative” company that fires its workforce to save a few bucks. Disney in particular has absolutely no excuse for not innovating and building amazing things. I am discouraged by the company leadership and will be relocating my money to something that will actually produce a return.
I work for a service company and for 23years old make good money. I used to be on call for 2 weeks straight with a partner then 4 weeks off. Each week I was on call I’d get $300 perdiem. Now they moved me to being on call 24/7 for a specific customer and only pay me a measly 4 hours a week. $41×4= 164. I’m so fed up. EVERY DAY on call? I can’t go home and have a beer? I can’t do anything on any weekend ever? FUCK I just need to vent
This is kind of just me venting, but also curious of other people's experiences… Everytime I'm sick (which is rare) It seems like my work always gives me a hard time, or guilts me and makes me feel even shittier when I already don't feel well. I work in parks and rec. aquatics for my city, I've been sick for about 8 days now with the flu and missed 3 shifts as a result (about to be 4). At my employer's request I have seen a doctor and got a sick note. I work under 2 different supervisors at different locations and both have seemed very annoyed to have to deal with me not being able to come in, in one instance the facility/programs had to be closed because no one would cover (we are very understaffed in my role) I gave her(supervisor) a few days heads up and she…
Last week at consulting firm
And work has tripled. How have any of you handled a company treating you poorly in your last week?
It's pretty obvious that CEO's only care about themselves and how rich they get, but does anyone else notice a pattern this year in which CEO's and executives are blatantly hoarding a lot of money for themselves while firing their employees? I mean, if business and the economy was so good, why are they blatantly all trying to hoard as much profit from their businesses as possible while firing their employees? If they truly saw long-term growth and health in the economy, they wouldn't be trying to keep the money while firing all their employees for short-term gains. They'd be re-investing their money into their businesses and expanding their empires as much as they could. But they're not. Does this mean that an upcoming crash/recession/depression is on the near horizon?
How food motivated are you at work?
There was a meetings of higher ups (one of them I’m friends with told me about it privately). Like many, we are having staffing issues. So their focus is going to be on retention. Making us happy. This is government though, so money is not necessarily an option. I was told people are motivated by money, time, and food. Like, people get super excited and happy if they know once a month lunch will be provided. I was taken aback by that. Sure, I’ll take a free lunch. But motivated in terms of retention? Hell no. Give me more time, and I may be willing to sacrifice a possible higher salary somewhere else. Give me more money, and I’ll sacrifice possibly a little more time. A free lunch wouldn’t get me to give up time or money. My dog will do tricks for food. I’m not my dog.
What the title says. We’re getting rid of our old walk in freezer and replacing it with a new one, and that includes getting rid of the ice. He decided to do this during work hours with propane. It created such a horrible smell that we couldn’t figure out what it was initially until I asked my boss himself what it was. It gets better. My coworker kept trying to open a door in the backroom to let some air in but someone kept closing it, there was no fans going, only one window upstairs open, and my boss wasn’t even wearing a mask. It got to a point where we all got sick one way or another: I was dizzy and nauseous for hours, my coworker almost had to go home and the cashier got a huge headache. Even after my boss had opened a door it was still…
My boss just texted me to let me know (in case I missed it) that I have been removed from the schedule through May as of two hours ago due to low volume (I'm a regularly scheduled part timer in private medicine). Lucky for me, I'm such a valuable asset that she promised to find me more hours by mid June if I can find it in my heart to stay with the company. Well, she needs to be clear, it's not a promise per se, but I should not quit, pretty please. Oh, yeah. Same message: she also congratulated me on my graduation next week. Thanks! Sure is great to be out of the job I was planning on going full time with. What an exciting time in my life.
