I was just reminded of this story. My brother managed a Distribution Center that stocked ~100 big box stores. The company policy was to pay another company to haul away all the wood pallets that their products arrived on. My brother found a company that would buy the wood pallets and come pick them up for free. He used that money to buy video game consoles, reclining gaming chairs, a grill, a smoker, crock pots, and food for the staff so they could regularly have “fun days” if they hit their goals. His employee turnover was so low! Then corporate found out about it, reprimanded my brother, and started making all the distribution centers sell their pallets but kept the money for themselves. They didn't care that my brother was actually saving them money, both by not paying a company to haul away the pallets AND by keeping employee retention…

Big bra company layoffs
A large female underwear company has been “all american” since it closed its call centers in India and was super proud of it. Today they had a company meeting where they immediately let 3 departments go and asked a fourth to work untill February of next year training their replacements. These companies have never and will never care about any of us .
So sick of How My Office Treats Me
I used to be so grateful for my current job after I was terminated (unfairly, meaning no warnings, no IP in an at will state and they tried to appeal my UI) and they gave me a raise and a chance to work only a week after my termination. Now I see they were just desperate to get a body into the desk. I am o my 1 of 2 in my position at a very small office, the other worker gets to work remote 2 days a week (and takes advantage to work more when she can, good for her, frustrating for me) and I am required to work in office all 5 days a week. I am so tired of being told “No” to every request and have discovered I have been lied to as well. I was lied to when I asked for a clarification on sick…
what do you make of this?
A few years ago I was working a small corporate job, maybe like 60-ish employees total. Did simple logistical work. I had a major depressive episode occur after three years and got a note from my psych advising a three-week break from work and I hesitated to take it. When I went to see the HR employee and told her about it, her initial reaction was shock that I was actually hesitating to take it. She said if I have a medical note and my doctor advised me to take it then it shouldn't even be a question and that the company will survive if I took a break and my job would be secure. I took the break and went back and there were never any issues afterwards. I thought that they might let me go due to my depression being perceived as a liability but that never ended…
Here's a full breakdown of what a graphic design company expected to see after I applied to a job on Linkedin. Full-time Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. The pay is $5.19CAD/hour. No mention of additional pay for remote work. For anyone not wanting to read through everything, they basically expect you to do logo design, package design and social media design and that all of this work should take around 4 to 6 hours to complete. Which means that I'm getting, at most, $35 CAD for it on that day. Here's the introduction ABOUT This test focuses on your creativity and problem-solving ability using graphic design. We want you to be creative and innovative without any limits. Show us what you’re capable of! GOAL To showcase your skills, we’re giving you a few briefings to choose from, and you’ll only have to work on one of them.…
I have two potential employers who want to interview tomorrow and Thursday! Problem is i can’t get time off. I have no sick time and we can’t use vacation time without a 12 day notice. (Plus I’d hate to use up all vacay time and not even leave). Worst part is i drive a company car that’s tracked by gps so i can’t just go to the interview mid day. I’m stuck guys. How do people find time to go to multiple interviews when the bills still need to get paid?
I’m just curious overall.
Literally just said there’s no one available to cover idk what to do I feel like I’m dying and I have two exams this week.
