Yes, y’all read that correctly. After a year of refusing to go on an ayahuasca retreat (which requires me sleeping in the same room as the owner), I was fired. The owner of the company is used to women fawning over him. I watched the last two managers AND other office staff throw themselves at him. I have 0 interest in him and absolutely no desire to do ayahuasca. He had a mushroom party with a group of women from an actual cult and they did them in his office while I worked one day at the front alone. The manager even confirmed with me that’s what they were doing! The owner said it made him a better therapist. I didn’t say much and just went on to discuss actual work related appointments that I needed to work schedule. Apparently, he wanted me to join. Almost every day he and…

25 year(s)
From a friend on Facebook. Dedicated a quarter of a century to 1 company and they can't even be bothered to give a customized message for the dedication. Ever feel underappreciated?
Remember to give yourself a break.
“From the time you were born every system in this culture has been telling you that you are not worthy as a human being unless you labor and produce and do. You had no choice in this matter. This deserves your grief and your rest. You've been lied to.”
Bathroom break
My company suddenly realized how behind we are on everything after months of doing nothing. Now it's mandatory overtime for the next two weeks, at least. So I'm spending the first two hours of my day in the bathroom, since they think they can take another two hours of my time at the end of the day. So, any ideas of what I should do or read that's actually enriching, unlike the mindless work I do here?
Too small for FMLA?
I work at a very small private practice, I've been here for almost 2 years and I am a good worker. My boss has known about an up-coming double jaw surgery in May since I started. I only make 0.043 hours of PTO every 2 weeks and he said that because we are a small private practice, they don't qualify for FMLA. My job is not in jeopardy or anything, but I won't be getting paid for the estimated 6 week recovery time so I'm going to try to pinch pennies and do it in 3 weeks. A few people have told me they legally have to provide FMLA. I'm from Ohio, is there anything I can do?
Personal goals for annual review
Ok I have to list goals, I think mainly personal for the work annual work review, setting goals for the next year. I honestly don’t care, as I am trying to plan my retirement. Not saying a word to manager, as they would freak out. Plus, not 100% sure of my actual plans when to retire. Certainly not sticking around like the 73 year old on our team! That person stays for social aspects, even though we’re WFH. I usually knock out some BS goals with no problem, but I guess I have writer’s block now. Need to submit something in 2 days. It’s stupid as no raises for anyone due to an ill fated acquisition that is being spun off into a different book of business.
Empty, idle, and wtf?
Company was bought out last year and management has been getting worse. Now if you don't have your time card filled out daily, they're threatening to give us more work we can't do? Wtf.
Afraid I won’t find anything worth it
Over the last 2 months I've noticed my memory going to absolute hell and I find myself just forgetting random work things and I dread my shift because of what I'll forget today and I'm assuming it's all stress related. I've tried writing things down and it's the same result. Even though I'm part time, our environment can get incredibly stressful when we're fast paced. My supervisor can be a good person and she's been trying to help me in navigating those situation because my anxiety can get the best of me and I sweat. Most of the time it isn't super helpful. I know repetition is how I learn best and I've mentioned that several times. She's a quick learner. I am not. While it's nice she's extending her time, I've learned how to read between the lines. Her words of “if I didn't think this would work out…
