My boss fired me because he found out I was attempting to help my daughter with an abortion after she was abused, now I’m not sure how how to proceed

So this is probably the biggest longshot post on this sub, but since people here help each other and know about being screwed by employers I guess it won't hurt to try, I've been trying everything else. I'm in Alabama in a small ruralish town and I work a retail job that has a crooked boss that underpays but that seems to be the rule around here. I struggle all the time, even had to go into debt collections on unpaid loans and a credit card in the past a couple years ago. But since I've been at my current job for almost 3 years with slight stability but still low pay. Sadly, there's not many people hiring as jobs are still scarce around here since the covid stuff, and the jobs that pay more than junk are being held very tightly by those who have them. For good reason.…

Fired for standing up for myself

So, I recently graduated college (december grad), and I landed a job as a law-enforcement victim advocate (after interning with the same establishment). Well everything was going well until my supervisor started showing her true colors. She would micromanage everything that I do, give me other people’s caseload (caseload from her friends who would just chill at the job), critique everything that I do (she wasn’t training me correctly but I was unaware at the time), and have other supervisors “lookout” for me, aka, tell her my every move. Well I finally got tired of it and I snapped on her. I told her how I felt (led to me yelling) and she ended up scheduling a meeting with her, myself, and the director. Well the director sided with her and the day after that, I was fired. They stated that I was “insubordinate” and had poor job performance, which…

Where to begin.

I’m scared for the future of us. I took a break from Reddit for almost a year. I was following this sub closely because it’s honestly just scary. I made a new Reddit because I forgot my old pw and this subreddit popped up in my feed. It’s scary to think not much has changed in a year, if anything, things seem to have gotten worse. If I have one more person in my line of work that owns a business say to me no one wants to work I am going to very aggressively explain why. I held back for a long time because they are clients and it would be a bad idea but honestly I would very much like a new line of work because I’m tired of this one so I don’t care if I get fired for calling them out on their bullshit and maybe…

Will I get used to this in my job? Lots of walking!

Hello everyone. I am a security officer and would like some info on how I will get used to this type of job I got, because my body hurts especially my ankle! I also feel very dizzy and tired after work. I have a job where I need to walk 10k steps in a day (its only 1 day out of the week like this because I have to be a “runner” and run around the buildings constantly for the team. The rest of the week its normal walking.) So to explain I do 10k walking steps that day, and I made a count I get up 64 times in that shift. Meaning I have to go to the second building (I am in the first building) go and open a door or pick up a delivery to sign for and than walk back to the first building at my…

I Rejected a Role After Being Disrespected by the Company

This is essentially a follow up post to one I made the other day regarding a job that had been changing the rules on me as we went along. I’d been interviewing for six weeks and expecting an offer towards the end. The first three interviews were spaced about a week apart and by all accounts went well. Hiring manager seemed to like me, recruiter had great feedback from the company. I was told a couple days after my last interview that I would hear back on feedback and possible next steps. Except that never came. Hiring manager was almost two weeks behind on following up. Radio silence. Last week I had to urge my recruiter to contact him and HR to get an update. His excuse was that he was busy and it just got away from him. Goes in to tell me recruiter to tell me they have…

About at the end of my rope with this job…

For context: In my current position I work as a supply chain analyst at a hospital. It's incredibly unrewarding and frustrating work for pretty low pay. In short, I don't get paid enough to put up with what I'm about to tell you about. Also, I've been at this job for a little over a year now. Ok so Wednesday afternoon at about 3:30 it's closing time and I'm headed out the door with a buddy of mine who works in receiving when I hear loud (and I mean LOUD) yelling coming from the warehouse. I decided to check it out to make sure it wasn't someone injured or something of the sort as we do have some fall risks on the team. When I turn the corner I see one of the newer techs (he's been working for us about 4 months) absolutely shredding one of the older seasoned…

My organization has been taking hours off of my time sheet

I work for a non profit and we submit paper timesheets every other week. I didn’t think about taking pictures of these paper time sheets because I assumed they would be ethical and compensate me for the hours written (big mistake). My supervisor changed one of my employees time sheets in front of me because he didn’t believe she actually worked those hours even though as her boss I vouched for her.. which got me really suspicious. I ended up taking a picture of my last time sheet and then compared it to the hours I was actually paid and noticed they paid me for 28 hours instead of 29. I emailed them and requested every written time sheet I’ve ever submitted but didn’t tell them what I noticed yet. I’m in NJ. Any advice? I think I’m going to see if they did it any other times as well…

Can I report this? What do I do?

Started a new job about month ago as a cashier/barista and I was promised that I would get tips. Didn’t see any tips or bonus on my or anyone else’s paystub, another coworker contacted the boss about it. This was when we were told that we would now be zelle’d 50 dollars a month as tips. Am I going insane?? We don’t all work the same amount, 25 dollars in tips in 2 weeks is far below what we generate, also, paying us with Zelle? What can I do about this?
