Black out days
I just got hired at a donut shop & they sent me the stuff to get set up on the app for getting your schedule & requesting days off. However, there are several days/weeks that are “blacked out.” Some of them very random like the entire first 12 days of August. I texted the GM to confirm that these days cannot be taken off at all & she says “correct.” Tomorrow i think I am going to tell her thanks, but don’t think this job is for me. My sister thinks I’m overreacting, but some of the days they have blocked off are days I actually need off bc my son has no school/no day camp during summer. Not to mention I was told I’d be working a certain schedule, & now they’re already trying to get me to work days/times outside of my availability & I haven’t even started…
I just need to vent, FUCK YOU COMPANY! SERIOUSLY WHAT THE FUCK NOT PAYING ME MY FINAL PAY CHEQUE on time because you lost my hours worked THEN SAYING I worked less hours I did when you had a damn month to contact me and let me know so i can sort it and you fired me might I add just because I swore once with no one around besides one other employee who lied and made it seem worse then it was no meeting and no warning just gone AND i was there that day for training on that day so you didn't even fire me in person you actually waited until I got home and send me a damn email! what the actual fuck!!! I want to add that I am now fucked for the next month because yes I'm starting a new job but but I need…
Been at this place for a month and ended up getting fired because I did not want to work with the crew I was with. Truth is, I absolutely hated working them and felt severely uncomfortable everyday. Every day verbal and physical abuse. Had sheet metal tossed me, air handler/ furnace dropped on my collar bone and etc. Everyday the guys ridiculously talked shit to me. Yes, I got pictures of my bruises and scars. I texted the other manager shortly after I got terminated and it seems like he doesn’t care. Should I move forward with the complaint? I fear my “replacement” is going to have to deal with this and the previous guys before me didn’t want to work with the install crew.
Last week I had spoken with the CEO of the company I was working for about working from home. My daughter was sick and I needed to pick her up from school. She asked if I could work from home, to which i said yes. I also asked if I could work from home the next day if my kid was still sick. She approved both days as long as my direct supervisor was okay with it. I cleared this with my supervisor and worked at home Monday and Tuesday. On Friday when I submitted my time sheet I received an email from the CEO asking why I worked from home for 2 days, even though SHE approved it, and I put it in my email with my time sheet. The email also a used me of taking advantage of my new supervisor’s “learning curve” by working from home for…
5S and LEAN 6
i worked for a publicly traded company. building materials. i programmed and operated a 5 axis CNC router. i produced door stiles and rails. the way i was taught, producing stiles and rails for a 1 lite door, 2 stiles, 2 rails, took over 22 minutes. this was the cycle time… from the time the router picks up the tool, runs its routine, drops off the tool was over 22 minutes. i was able to eliminate unneeded operations and set the start point of next operation closer to end point of last operation. i got the cycle time down to 7 minutes for the same door. management's response?…”that's good”. no increase in pay. no questions about what i did, how i did it, or “what else do you see that we can improve on?” after that, i did just enough to not get bitched at.

I am in management/leadership—not in the field of HR. My direct supervisor, let’s say he’s #2 in a company of 1000. I have been there for 11 years. Moved up to my current position 6 yrs ago. My supervisor is verbally, mentally, & emotionally abusive. It stopped for a while but it is right back like wildfire.
In January I covered 4 days of work for another employee under the condition they would cover four days for me in July so I can fly to AZ for a family reunion. This employee just put in their notice and management said I am back on the line to come in for work, after the flight tickets and hotels have already been paid for. The employee just said “lol sorry man” pretty much, so now I’m going to have to take him to small claims court to get paid for the time I worked for him and it’s going to be impossible to get those shifts covered now. Fuck.
