A few people were being dumb in the office and not focusing on their work because none of management were in, the managements response? No work from home for the foreseeable future until it gets sorted. Whole reason i took this job was for the hybrid working (3 days at home 2 in the office) Ffs

“Why don’t workers in the US____?”
Vent/Rant: Fill in the blank: strike, revolt, unionize, vote, etc I was about to start this post off with something along the lines of “because we're all too fucking broke/tired!”, Which probably is true for at least some people, but as I started thinking about it, I realized that with that answer, even I am playing into what I think is the real answer. Learned helplessness. Whatever you want to attribute the source to: media, laws, society, rules, influence of the rich and powerful, corrupt politicians, fucked up broken systems, evil systems working exactly as designed/intended, brainwashed masses, etc (and in reality it's probably a combination of all the above), the result is a society as a whole which either brainlessly supports the status quo, or pisses and moans but doesn't actually do anything, because they feel powerless to enact actual change. A few vocal individuals might shout about the…
Walked out of my job today…
So I got a new job like a month ago…. And from being asked if we still called gay people slurs, to not accommodating my availability, to cleaning up my coworkers mess they left me last night this morning… I’m done! I’m free! Goodbye to managers who sit in the office for 4 hours talking about personal life stuff, goodbye to my lazy coworker who said “I didn’t have enough time to clean up”, goodbye to the creep who asked me about slurs and showed a minor porn! And goodbye to the HR department who said that I wouldn’t know if anything happened regarding my concerns with the workplace. Peace! Time to look for another job that hopefully isn’t like this place.
My boss sends an email to a new client today and says “let me intoduce you to my management team.” And proceeded to list off most of her nepotistic relatives and some other half-wits as either VPs or directors of some department. The boss described me as someone's “assistant” and the “help”. She ended the email with hope everyone has a nice holiday weekend. Now, I run my very own department, the manger of another, help out in nearly every other department, and do some of the highest level work that there could be to do in a big corporation, without it going to the lawyer. I get forwarded work that is too difficult for the supposed “VPs” and “Directors” of these other various departments. They pass work onto me and apparently take the credit. I single-handedly just got us revalidated with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (Medicare) and…
Fuck “were all like family” places
Guess who got a verbal warning for “excessive” bathroom use. Guess who also probably has IBS and can't afford their insurance. And also got told that calling out 4 days in the last month was excessive (two of those days were back to back) and that's why the raise I got promised 3 months ago isn't approved.
So I've been looking at this subreddit from a distance for months at this point. The short version of this is “Where do people actually get jobs that pay $30,000+ a year?” Long version because I feel like context is extremely important: The long version is I've always been poor my entire life due to autism. The most I've ever made in a month is around $2000 as a dishwasher, and even then that was only for 6 months at a time, and the amount of time I've made around that much was a bit over a year in the past 9 years. I've moved around almost 30 times in the past 20 years due to a combination of parents getting divorced, me being unable to live place, and me leaving abusive households. Most of the time, I'd be lucky to be hired anywhere. I've never been able to…
