i’ve been at this job for maybe three months now. it’s just a grocery store and i’m only working here to pay for bills while i’m in college. i called in the first month of working because my car wouldn’t start — battery was dead. my dad drove 3 hours to come fix it for me. this morning i went down to go to work and….it wouldn’t start! i called my store when they opened to let them know i couldn’t come and the manager lady was like “hmm hasn’t this happened before?’ like yes bro thanks for rubbing it in that i’m having to drop dollars on my car multiple times in a few months. i’m not a bad worker. literally just got employee of the quarter. they’re lucky i even told them what was up tbh. her tone just rlly pissed me off bc she was tryna call…

Why do employers hate their employees working from home? I don’t get it?!

I work a rolling 4 on 4 off 12 hour shift schedule. My employers pay periods run Monday to Sunday. To keep it simple, when your work days roll around to weekend and into the next week. You work a total of 48 hours but when you overlap the pay period resetting all your hours are paid at straight time. The 8 that are over 40 are paid at straight time bc they say they’re pay period resets. To my knowledge overtime should be paid at hours in excess of 40 but they claim bc the pay period they don’t have to pay the over time bc 24 hours goes on one week and 24 on the other week? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Probably gonna lose my job because I don't qualify yet for FMLA and need knee surgery. I love that companies expect loyalty from you but the minute that somehow something outside of your control happens, good luck with that. Anyone have any good ways of saying well I need to know if your ass is gonna fire me so that I can file for unemployment/ look for a new job?

I’ve been at my current job for almost two years and it’s always been bad, but it recently has gone from bad to worse. My boss is the type to choose a favorite and least favorite each week. I’ve definitely had my fair share of being the least favorite, and luckily have been the favorite many times. My boss is also the type to take things EXTREMELY personal. She very often claims that she’s afraid to “look bad.” Last week, I sent out an email that didn’t live up to her standards. She went off on me on Friday, and finished the week off by asking “if I learned my lesson.” I spent the weekend trying to forget about it, and hoping she’d be picking someone else to be the least favorite this week.
