For the past 6 months, my off days have been Sat and Sun. Before that it was Sun Mon. My boss told me on the 28th, that starting July, my schedule would revert back to Sun Mon. I told her I couldn't as I have another job during the weekends. She got mad and said “Ok. I understand you have you another job. We need to talk in person moving forward and with signing paper next time, if you saying you don't remember. It's my bad to trust people without signings paper. Next time I will keep in mind. I can not promise keep you Monday through Friday if you can not back to what was your schedule as we agreed was temporary. I will let you know about it when I'm done with July schedule. It's a washroom management company, so we empty used sanitary product bins, top up soaps, air fresheners and install dryers. Last year's pay rise was not very good in this high inflation situation (3%) and we lost a few staff members because of it (team of 12, 2 retired, 2 straight up quit). Since then the workload increased on the remaining staff and one older staff member got a hernia. Then another had a crash in their van (down to rushing). Now there are just 6 of us trying to cover 12 positions. The firm is struggling to hire and when we do get a new staff member, they leave pretty quickly due to the workload. I work at a very small independent cafe, we hardly make £200 some days, and the days are very quiet. I am on my own all day. I have started having more smoke breaks, eating their food (most of it is thrown out on wastage anyway) and reading books during my shift. I know there’s no cameras but what are the likelihood that there would be hidden ones? Based in the UK

Seriously, when did words like “employee” and “job” change to “associate” and “role”? Language around work has subtly been changed to subconsciously create a more equal relationship between employee and employer instead of transactional (how it actually is) and we all kind of accepted it… or more like it was forced on us… But my question is, when did this actually happen? Its like I blinked and now companies had switched to this language. It feels like a Bernstein bears situation.

i hate customer service with my whole entire heart. i'm getting paid to deal with absolute fucking idiots. i'm 20f, 5'4 and 160lbs and apprently made a fully grown man feel so uncomfortably that he wants to leave our hotel and wants a full refund. he came in to complain because the carpark he's staying at overcharged him. its not out carpark as we don't have a carpark. he would not listen when i said its not our issue because its not our carpark or our charges. he said he wanted a refund because of how much hes paid for a room and parking. then changed his story and now wants a refund because he was rude. i cant think of anything i said that would be rude other than my tone of voice which in my defense its 8am and im being moaned at about something that has nothing…

i posted before about my sudden (and very unwanted) transfer at my job from one school to another (i work as a school librarian) its just been downhill from there. everything is a big mess (i wont bore everyone with the details, but suffice to say nothing has been processed properly and it will take a hell of a time trying to clean everything up and make everything ''run properly'' from the bottom up) but right now my biggest issue is the amount of presentations that i have to do. for every class that comes in to the library, i have to run a presentation for them, and there's 36, so i have to do 36 in a week. on top of my usual librarian duties of shelving, cleaning up, answering queries etc. as well as babysitting the kids that come in after school. they also need me to conduct…

I work in tech. I work from home 3-4 days a week and get paid well. I like my job and I'm happy to do it. I find it fulfilling to get paid to constantly learn new things. Do any other people who frequent this sub actually like their job?

This is something I've thought about. Simply because my employers/managers have expressed to me that they work a lot of overtime hours without charging for them, because they're over the budget for clients. (Well if I'm being completely honest, the clients asked for more revisions and work, but the managers don't want to charge, because they will lose the “bid” and possible relationship with client. I have the impression they don't have much of a choice because if they set up boundaries, another company can simply undercut them and hoard all the clients).

My shitty boss has some complex issues so he speaks very fast and in an illegible manner. After coming from some safety training, he mumbles something and I answered “what?” He said what what? I told him I didn't get what you said. He then went on to tell me that I'm impolite and the correct was is to say “excuse me” I ignored him after this comment. I don't want to use “excuse me” sentence with him neither figuratively nor literally. He is an entitled narcisst that once told me I'm a liar full of bullshit and I should have reported him back then.
