No One’s Here

Okay, both supervisors are out of town for the week. No other personnel are in office today (small team, around 8 of us with half out in the field, rest at home). I work from home Tuesdays and Thursdays. The work I have to finish up can absolutely be done from home. What's mentally stopping me from getting up and going home for the remainder of the day?

I’m broke and stuck in dead end jobs because I don’t want to sell my soul

I’m 22. I’m broke as hell. I’m maybe a few weeks away from needing help with my rent. I stop myself from buying groceries I want bc Ik that means less food next trip and everything is sooo expensive I’m stuck at a pizza shop rn, but I don’t make terrible money. Not great by any means, but not awful. But two months ago the AC busted there and it just got fixed a few day ago. It’s been 85-95 degrees in there everyday since, and I can’t handle heat at all. I pass out really easily. So I started looking for a new job. And they cut my hours at the pizza shop, and say I can’t get them back. And every time I’m looking at a career path for myself I find out it doesn’t pay shit, or requires a large amount of schooling at an egregious cost—…

Your boss is already trying to exploit you during recruitment, but you don’t notice it because it happens indirectly.

I'm majoring in HR and I have quite some experience in the field. Your job offer and contract is based on the lowest wage possible according to labor laws and collective agreements. They might be adding little things here and there like a pizza party, but trust me, they want you to do as much as possible for as little as possible. Why do so many people allow this? Because it happens indirectly via a contract. Your boss isn't directly coming up to you like “listen buddy, I found this is the lowest I'm allowed to pay you, you're probably fine with it right?”. But he basically is telling this to you through your contract. How do you prevent this? Don't accept it. Negotiate your salary, PTO, and other secondary stuff. You won't believe how assertive some people at key positions can be. We were recruiting a new director who…

I made a pretty PDF pamphlet of David Graeber’s “Are You An Anarchist? The Answer May Surprise You!” for propaganda purposes. Link in description!

Find the full PDF version here. Print on company time and money for bonus points, and leave it on your co-workers' desks.

The office staff at my job (managers+admin) suck, and I'm looking to make their daily work lives slightly more tedious/annoying/difficult, without giving us more lowly staff any issues. Any ideas?

Advice while Asking for a raise

Let me know if this isnt the rifht sub for this or if there is a better one. I'm looking to ask for a raise at my job next week. I have been there 1 year now, I did receive a raise on the new year but that was a cost of living raise (which also factors in preformance) but I want to be able to ask for a raise after being here 1 year. Here are some details on my year here, i do want to preface this by saying its a small company who treats me really well but i need more momey cause life is expensive. Our CEO quit so we all jad to pick up some extra duties to help out while he was gone, for me this included working on our advertising campaign. We hired a new guy since I suggested we should while a…

What is our life meant to be if we have to work 4 days a week?

I know some people work more but many of us work four which is still the majority of the week. What kind of stupid society do we live in when the majority of our week is dedicated to work and not our families and hobbies?
