Use those words: Lie. Cheat. Steal. Murder. Call them out, and don’t allow them the veneer of legitimacy that comes from “democracy” and “elections.” They LIE. They CHEAT. They STEAL. They MURDER.

For context, I live on Guam (US territory). Can’t find anywhere on google so coming here. My coworkers and I work part-time as lifeguards. We are in the sun, swimming in the ocean with tourists (leading tours), and carrying heavy gear long distances. My boss informed me that we are opening up 7 days a week, which means almost everyone on my team will HAVE to work 7 days a week, as we are understaffed. To me, I think we just shouldn’t be opening that often since we are understaffed. But my boss says since “we are part time anyways,” we should be okay with it. It’s just an exhausting job. And on my days off I tutor and I’m not willing to blow off my students for $12/hr at a tiring job. Kind of venting, but also seeking advice/knowledge. The state I am from originally made this illegal, so…
Any advice would help. So i’ve called in sick to work for 3 days now , I tried to get myself to go in today I got dressed and ready to go and then couldn’t face it. We are meant to call a manager when off sick but my manager is very unsympathetic so I called the main office to leave a voicemail. I hate my job so much i’ve been there 4 years and it’s got worse they put so much onto me now and i’ve tried to speak to them about it but there is no point. Also i’m so down I never see my family or friends as I work 8-5 and just feel emotionally drained right now. Any of you been in this situation or any advice you can give to me. I apply for loads of jobs but yet to hear anything back.

Why is over time seen as a benefit?
I see this often in many posts from the sub and others. People will often complain that a place doesn't offer over time so the job isn't worth it. But if the job is only worth if it requires you to give up time on yourself and your family then the job isn't worth it at all. I, personally, am always trying to maximize my free time and lower my work time. I cannot ever go back to full time 40+ a week ever again. Any time I spend at work is a waste of time. I make what I need to make then I fuck off and do my thing that makes me happy. I understand people have families and what have you but I still don't understand over time being a benefit. Anytime I see a job offering overtime as a benefit I nope the fuck away from…
I'm at a Midwest kroger and I'm being told that the 30 hours of vacation I've occurred can't be used unless I take my vacation starting at the beginning of the payweek(saturday) and I have to use the entire amount of vacation occurred unless I've been here 20 years. You're not aloud to use 2 days here and 2 days there. If I have 120 hours and want a vacation I have to use all 120 hours. Even though they have a rollover on vacation hours. Makes no sense and is super frustratingi have a concert that they have known about for months thats on Aug25th a Friday. Was trying to take Thursday and Friday off since I'm off Saturday and Sunday and I guess it's just not possible?
I am somewhat a workaholic and there was actually a time where I liked this job and enjoyed going to work. Meanwhile many things have changed and that is no longer the case. The company is disorganized, the boss is very cheap (no bonuses whatsoever), you need arguments for a higher salary even if you get a higher position and the employees are taken advantage of. I do plan to leave, but it is not easy as I also have to change the location and residence as well. I barely ever call in sick, I often do not make it to take all the days off I am entitled to for the year, and considering the situation I am in now – feeling very disrespected, being lied to and feeling unappreciated for my work of 7 years, I still struggle to call in sick. Regardless of whether I am actually…
My boss wants us to donate PTO
A coworker of mine fell severely ill 2 weeks back and has used all of their PTO. To avoid having them use their 12 weeks of FMLA, our CEO has asked employees at the company to donate PTO days to avoid having this coworker eat into their FMLA. For context, employees of less then 4 years full-time are given 12 days of PTO to use for sick days or vacation BEFORE they utilize an FMLA. Is this normal and something I should have gone along with? Or am I justified in feeling that this is just a cop out way for my company not to do more for my coworker?
