Here we go again! Does anyone else just ugly sob on their couch at the thought of another week… Yes i have a therapist

Tired of hearing “There's a shortage of X workers in Y industry!” ? Exhausted of seeing headlines about a lack of skilled labor. Even with a college degree, many of these entry level positions don't want to hire the inexperienced because “training is expensive”. Say it ain't so. Every new job or entry level position I've had, across different industries, more than 50% of the time would say they had a training program only for me to find out that it was sink or swim. There was no program. The shortage is self made.

I have suffered retaliation from my boss for informing a client (vulnerable adult) who was being harassed by her that he has rights. I called HR several times to report this to them. I filed a written report with HR. They have quit answering my calls and they won’t return my phone calls. She has a long record of abusing employees and of forcing people to quit or firing them and I know others have reported her to HR. Nothing changes. I told HR that it’s a hostile environment for me. If I quit because I’m afraid of her can I collect unemployment? I’m in Minnesota.

We went through an acquisition a while back, was told that I'd have a job and would continue to do what my role was but it all changed. They took our WFH flexibility away, they moved me into a role that i hate and comes with so much added stress, the people from the company who acquired us literally shut us out from work related conversations. I get physically sick on sunday nights thinking about work on Monday, I've cried after becoming absolutely overwhelmed because i have not received the proper training or support from anyone at this company and I'm pretty sure they've set me up to fail. Started looking for new jobs; it makes me sad leaving coworkers who became friends and starting over but my physical and mental health come first. Just a vent but my goodness, corporations do not give a hoot about their workers.

Over the years my father has told me a bunch of crazy stories about all the stuff he got up to when he was around 18-19 and recently he was telling me the story of how he almost bought a FOURTH car in 1978, when he was 19 years old. He didn't have new cars, they were all from the 1950s. But how did a kid his age afford so many project cars? He had a union job at a grocery store. He was making $13 CAD($9.83 USD) an hour in 1978, the equivalent of $56.23($42.53 USD) in 2023. For stocking shelves. Fuck me running, I would do just about any boring ass retail job if it paid me almost sixty bucks an hour. And his parents who are now in their 80's bought their house for $16000 CAD when he was born, on a 30 year mortgage. The dirt…

My husband and I both work full time and it feels like we just can’t catch up and are living paycheck to paycheck. There’s a new financial problem every month. Doctors appointments, car problems, you name it. We just can’t keep up and keep getting bills upon bills that we cannot afford. We don’t live outside our means (seriously; we never buy ourselves anything that’s not an essential and we don’t go on any fun vacations) but we still cannot save a dime. We’re in our mid twenties and both feel like failures that we can’t settle down and buy a house together much less even have $1,000 in our savings. I’m so stressed out everyday. I’m contemplating getting a second job but i already don’t have time to do housework, so all chores will be impossible if I get another job. My husband already works 50 hours a week…

Spent the last 5+ years of my life as a district manager in retail. All throughout Covid with rapid changes and employees that never wanted to work. Built out locations for the company, structured out an entire management training program from scratch and taught it to the management team. I have literally put blood, sweat and tears down for this company and my mental health suffered, my marriage suffered, but I loved the company. Made millions and millions of dollars for the company and the owner. I had a manager that had worked under me for over 4 years. I went to this ladies wedding a few months ago.
