Am I right for being upset my boss or am I being sensitive?

I made a really bad mistake for my line of work in early January. I was also pretty new to the company, I only had worked there for 4 months. My boss pulled me into a meeting and was extremely harsh about the error and about other things I didn’t even know she had an issue with. She told me I would get some sort of disciplinary action. I asked her what kind. She said bc the error was so bad she does not know and will need to consult her manager. She also told me she doesn’t think I’m a good fit for the role. Weeks went by and I never heard what type of disciplinary action I would get. I thought I might get a final warning, PIP, or fired. Just needing to vent a minute

I work as a Pipefitter helper and I get paid $18 an hour. When I interviewed for this job I told the guy I was interested in welding, as that’s what I went for college for. I already have NCCER core finished, as well as 3 welding tests for 3 of the major processes used, and of course they were all passed. So I’m more than qualified for welding at this shop. Typically you’d get an interview, and do a weld test to prove you can do it. I was NOT offered a test. He offered to give me a chance as a helper. I said okay because he promised I would get the chance during down time to weld and make a test, and upon passing it I would then be promoted to welder. getting quiet fired for being disabled [Vent]

what it says on the tin. i have tourette’s syndrome and the OWNERS were having a hard time understanding that i could not stop my tics and if i did it would make everything worse. a manager who was very understanding and i was close with (who is gone now) talked to them twice then i did once. none of those times stopped this and i should’ve taken this as a red flag. head office came in one day and it turned out that days my tics were a little active. not crazy like usual, cause i have tics where i swear and hit myself or throw things. i know how to handle myself and can get a hold of it ofc. but this day was just some whistles and my head flicking. i worked through these tics for hours cause we were so busy and i felt bad running…

Redundant Rant… (but happy!)

So after 5 years (incl during Covid, even worked whilst I had Covid 🤦‍️) I was made redundant and was told: “Sorry, but you are at risk of redundancy, we’ll let you know the outcome in 48hrs” Immediate reaction was shock, total WTF! Long story short, whole team got axed. Felt destroyed, worthless, low & pretty sh!t. Basic redundancy plus notice was ok but “Ok, now what….” Fast forward 5 months and my new job pays almost 4 times what that idiot did. To be fair, maybe I was the idiot..? What I’m trying to say is: – Never sell yourself short – Don’t be scared of jumping into something new – Comfort zone is a meme Not sure if this fits the category of antiwork, but definitely, don’t undervalue yourself!

Your boss isn’t your friend

I put in my notice at work and my boss of three years, with whom I’ve gotten along swimmingly and have been their go-to employee all the while, has not spoken to me since. They left for vacation today and never said a word to me. My last day is next Wednesday. Said boss has also been telling people that my departure is shady and that I’m unprofessional for only giving a two week notice period. You know, the global professional standard? Just a friendly reminder that you are dead to a corporation once you’re no longer useful and that even if you take the high road and resign under the best possible conditions, they will burn the bridge even if you don’t.

Prospective employer asked if I was single, married, had any children.

“I refuse to answer that question.” None of that is your business. You wanna know if I have responsibilities outside work that might impact workflow, ask exactly about that. If I have a gig on a day and need to take the day off, I'll put in my unpaid leave/PTO/whatever. If I do get married, maybe I'll send you an invite (big maybe). But none of it, not a single bit is of any relevance to you or your company unless I make it so. Next day, HR told me my application wasn't going to the next step. I get it if I didn't make the cut in terms of experience and skill. That I respect. That said, I'm audio recording every interview from now on if it's legal to do so. And I'm just gonna tell them it is an illegal question to ask at all, regardless of recording.
