I recently changed jobs for one that offered me too much money to refuse. A lot of the people that work there were actually ex employees from my current work at the time so I was thinking the work culture would be relatively the same… but I was wrong So with my new job I noticed people don’t really take lunch breaks, or coffee breaks. Which I thought was weird but ok. I’ve also been starting work half an hour before everyone and only taking 30mins to each my lunch in the office. Hi guys, been on this sub for a while and it seems like a good place to ask for input. I'll try to be as detailed as possible, since I'm pretty sure no one from work reads this sub, or much of reddit at all. So I'm a restaurant server, with a LOT of experience (over 25 years) and I'm very good at my job. I also have a master's degree, but resto was a deliberate opt-out of the corporate nonsense we see every day on this sub. I have flexibility with my time (I can pretty much take off as much time as I want, just don't get paid) and though I'm a tipped employee, I have more control over my income than you might think. Former company cancels all bonuses
So just over a year ago I left my former company in hospitality of 4 years to move to a competitor. Mostly for better working conditions, slightly better pay, more opportunities but mostly because my old manager was a piece of work. The company itself was always pretty stingy and offered poor rates of pay compared to competitors in the market and since covid have been losing staff all over the place because everyone is moving for better pay. When I was still at the company all the venue managers were complaining they couldn't recruit due to restricted wage budgets. Fast forward to today and I heard in the grapevine that they've cancelled all the bonuses due qualifying managers on a technicality. As the title states, I was unceremoniously terminated from my position in the banking industry on Friday. While my employer may think they’ve seen the last of me, my work is just beginning. A few months back, I was involved in reporting a department manager to HR for workplace harassment and compliance violations, the manager was ultimately terminated, and remaining management made it immediately clear that they were not happy about losing the individual. Following the termination, my workload was conveniently increased to such an amount that one person could not possibly keep up— and I was also conveniently placed under a microscope that saw me receive disciplinary action for my inability to keep up with such an egregious amount of tasks. Like, why can only shitty people start businesses. I know money and stuff, but like if the workers are the ones with the skills, why don't we like get together and start businesses and do good stuff. Like where the workers also own the company. Is that a thing?

By the nature of this sub I can already guess the answer, but here it goes anyway. In a month I intend to quit my job with 1 month notice. I'm a one-person C&B department (we've had 4 people just 2 years ago and I was the most junior member of the team, but the company refuses to hire replacements). While the company is not going to suddenly collapse, I know my departure will hurt HR like a b***. Despite being really disenchanted by the company and my director, I'm a good egg, and I'm considering letting her know in advance, I'm planning to quit. They are not gonna find a replacement for me in a month, hell, I doubt they will find a replacement in 2 months. I'm wondering how stupid this idea is, and what's the worst-case scenario. It would give her more time to dig up something…
