Advice on negotiating further remote work?

I’d like to preface this by saying I’m not exactly “anti-work,” I’ve just seen this sub pop up and thought I’d bounce some ideas. I’m a year out of my architecture degree, and work for a niche design firm (> 10 employees) designing night clubs and festival stages. My boss is super cool, my co-workers aren’t really my speed, but I enjoy the work nonetheless and I think it’s great experience for where I want to take my life. I’ve been in the role just over 6 months, and essentially what happened is I interviewed for an assistant level job, got a role as project manager as the company was losing theirs, and have been functionally running half the business since February. I’m supposed to have an assistant, but according to the recent PM I replaced my company “has trouble finding the right people” so I’ve taken on a lot…

Am i crazy or was this just a wild thing to say

Ive just started at a new job that I actually love so far but i’m getting the feeling one of the bosses/managers just doesn’t like me and everyones had different opinions. I said in the job interview with her and the big boss that I had already worked in a very abusive workplace before and was looking for a place I could fit in and vibe with everyone, they agreed with me that this was the place for that and they liked me as a person as well. They have almost non-existent turnover and everyone is really lovely even going into 2 months there so I felt quite safe. Until this, I can’t tell if i’m being overly sensitive due to my past jobs so pls tell me what you think? My initial email advising I was sick with a cold is the top part and the bottom is my…

Unpaid overtime before and after work hours is one of the most annoying exploitations…

Why make laws against overtime when employers are going to use veiled threats and false motives for why they want you in early, because they know people are desperate for a job and you can be replaced? If I start at 7, that includes dressing up in whatever outfit and setting up my workplace. I ain't doing an extra 8 hours a month of unpaid work just so you can have me 20min early every day. And it's also the dumbest shit enforced by boomer ass employees too. Talking bad behind your back if you get to work 5min til' it starts… Like why? Why do you get to work 45min early? It's not my fault you have nothing going on in your life… That and STAYING overtime. Especially when a dr. in my firm wants to hold useless, uninteresting presentations. I raised my hand and asked if I had…

Mass email sent out threatening to fire employees who make mistakes

So I work for a pretty large-scale advertising agency. We recently have been dealing with integrations and mergers and leadership has changed. My department works heavily with paid media budgets for our clients, so our mistakes can easily cost the company money. Mix that with the fact that we’re overworked and the company is suuuper disorganized and mistakes have been happening more and more. Today, my department got a mass email from our new leader that said there have been an unacceptable amount of errors recently. The email then proceeded to announce a new standard operating procedure that will add several steps of laborious QA and sign off to almost every step of our process. To an extent I understand the new procedure (although it will likely add tons of work and time to our already full plates) but what really got me was the following point. The email then…

Let’s talk overtime pay.

So I quit my job because my most recent paycheck reflects an absence of 13 hours, 8 of which should have been overtime. Every pay period, you have to sign off on system adjustments to clocking in and out. I finally got access to payroll and realized what is advertised as $15/hr is actually $7.25/hr supplemented to $15/hr by tips hare, which they calculate and distributed every two-week period. So here's my math: They pay you $7.25/hr and then top it off to $15/hr using the tipshare. In other words, if you work overtime, they pay you $7.25 + 50% of that $7.25 and then top it off to $15 using the tip pool. THAT IS NOT OVERTIME PAY!! Am I making sense?

Does anyone have any advice on how to quickly raise some money to move to a new city?

So the job market where I am is terrible, and my current job pays me next to nothing, moving here was absolutely a mistake. I decided I'd start looking for a job in another city that offers relocation assistance per the advice of a redditor I spoke to, and got a job offer pretty much immediately. The issue is their assistance is more of a reimbursement. Getting this job would entirely turn my life around but actually moving halfway across the country with no money isn't super easy. I tried making a gofundme but I don't think that will get much attention

I got let go today

I got let go today after a month long PIP at a job i was super unhappy at. I know people are usually sad or upset when let go but I almost feel free and energized. I feel like I can do anything. I thankfully can get unemployment and I plan I looking for a new job but I haven’t felt this good in a long time. Has anyone else experienced this after being let go/ fired/ laid off at a job they hated?

I dread my job and it has ruined my life (rant)

I have been working as a freelance designer almost exclusively with a company that makes these huge events twice a year. Initially, I was a freelancer, though I took a more permanent work position with them two weeks ago. I am the only designer and I am in charge of most of the stuff that gets printed out before the event, and then during the event, I do any tasks they need of me. I suck as a designer, I suck and I know it. University burned the creativity and passion right out of me, and I am not an outgoing person by any means. Every time there is an event, I ask them to give me the info on what is needed well in advance, and every time I am given that information late after begging for weeks (sometimes months) on end. Like a couple of weeks before the…

In mother Russia, boss pays you to work. In capitalist America, you pay to work for boss. What a country!
