For starters, I’ve posted in here before about a particular issue I was having at work, but that was just 1 instance out of many. We’re incredibly understaffed, employees have been quitting left and right, new hires have been walking out after only being there a few weeks and the owner is likely a narcissist. I work in the billing department and since I’ve been there (little over 4 months), 3 employees have quit and their positions haven’t been replaced… and their workload has been dispersed amongst myself and others in the department. Both of our team leads are constantly calling out, which is adding even more of a workload onto us that are coming in to the office. My boss tore into me and told me he was uncertain about my future at the company because I was having difficulty with the material presented. hey, so this happened during the pandemic but I would still like to share it now because I still think about it often. so at the time i (24,f) was working part time at a gastroenterology ambulance in a hospital. I was working part time because I took weekend classes and needed some time to study during the week. My plan was to only stay at this job for a year until I finish my exams and then get a better paying full time job somewhere else. Hey everyone, I’m aware business owners aren’t typically loved here. But I’m asking for some advice and would really appreciate some feedback. I have a new employee (around a month), he’s much older than I am and has more years of experience than I do in his particular field of work. Everyone at my company works the exact same hours, which are pretty decent hours 7am-3:30pm with an hour lunch. We don’t work these hours because it’s convenient, it’s because we are a construction company and we work the same hours as the field so if they need anything we are here to help. I don’t know how much longer I can keep going. I provide my employers efficiency and the best of my abilities, in return I get more work with no reward . Time and time again they just take your kindness for weakness. All the online applications for jobs with somewhat a reasonable wage just look like complete scams. Prices are through the roof on everything from groceries to houses. Supreme Court cares nothing of the people. I don’t know what to do anymore. One bad day and I’ll probably end up under a bridge. Feels as if I’m digging myself into bigger hole each and everyday with no way out.

Here on a bit of a secret account cause I don’t want this associated with my actual socials. I am a person who jumps from job to job a lot. I rarely stay at a place longer than a year because why get a 25¢ raise from a job when you can go somewhere else and earn $2 more. Plus I don’t like when places get too comfortable having me around. I work at a lab, I'm a scientist, i have a PhD. My boss is one of the founders of the company, he has no higher education. He hired me as project manager, he never listens to me, and is “managing” the pronjects himself, I'm doing R&D because that's what my predecessor did (was doing R&D and project manager in name only). I keep telling him his timelines are obseen, the equipment is under serviced, we have to have a generator (apparently people here have been telling him that for the last 4 years) yesterday, there were three short black outs during the day (i lost two days of work, some people lose more or less).
