This is the kind of thing David Mitchell won’t respect.

From the Kroger employees' subreddit. The post title is a reference to https://youtu.be/_LiDTKEF1ek which I'm sure has been seen here before but is always worth sharing again.

Bring down RTO. Avoid buying food in office cafeterias and nearby chains as much as you can

RTO at its core is tied to commercial real estate value, of which much is derived from business interest. They want you to drive to the office and spend money 20+ miles from where you live. Many of us are being forced to RTO, but that doesn't mean we need to lend our support to it. Voting with your wallet is one of the most effective ways a single person can affect change—and when that movement grows, things can change quickly. I have no ire towards small businesses. If you have a local place you enjoy, by all means support them. This is just a simple tip to fight the anti-WFH movement and show them they don't have control over us.

When does it get bad?

Just started a new position in as an IT Audit technical staff. So far it’s been great, I like the day to day and I like being in the office. The work is mostly exciting. Wondering when it gets bad?

Promised One Set of Hours…Got Another

So I know the title seems like I’m just being a baby about my hours, but this job is ridiculous. I work at a store known for selling games, but it’s just a side gig for me during the summer because my full time job is being a teacher. I only took this job because I genuinely love to game, I don’t mind working retail and with the public, and I wanted to pocket some extra money instead of sitting at home during my break. When the manger hired me, they said it would be every other weekend and like two days during the week-which I was completely down for. What I was not told is that they were firing my coworker, which would leave me as the only employee other than them. Oh, and to make it better, another store in our district has no employees so they have…

What can we do? Just not work?

America is going to hell. The wage inequality is ridiculous, and everyone knows it. But what can we do? An employee's, we need money. To afford rent, food, a car. What's the way to fix the wage gap in the US? If there is any?

Am I getting an opportunity to settle?

A year ago I experienced discrimination from a very elite academic institution. I filed a EEOC complaint in my state and they investigated and filed a charge of discrimination against the institution. I consulted a reputable employment lawyer about a month ago who told me I indeed have a case but this institution gets these discrimination charges so often (she had even settled and litigated against them) that they don't even acknowledge them anymore. They just pay their little bill and move on. I could try getting them to settle, but she said it would probably go no where and be for very little. But she encouraged me to try because I can be my own counsel, and it's certainly not unheard of. Why not try? This was only a month ago that I received that advice so I never went forward with it. Today I received a phone call…

Employers really try to make you feel less than even before you work there.

I received this email to my work email today. I'm guessing they found my LinkedIn but I'm not posted as open to work and while my account does need updated, it does not have my email information anywhere. But a lot of companies have figured out my company's email formula. I think the worst part for me is the use of bold and all caps to show me how LUCRATIVE this will be to balance off the move. I normally respond kindly to recruiters that are polite because I get they are doing a job but I'm torn between ghosting or giving feedback to this one.
