Bereavement Dispute

My department is currently shifting people around and as of last Friday I now report to someone new. On Monday, I received news that my fiancés aunt passed away and so i immediately let my (former) supervisor know that I may need to take Friday off depending if that is when the funeral is. Yesterday we find out the funeral will be this Friday so I go ahead and book my bereavement leave for Friday so I can be with my fiancés family at the wake. Well, this morning I receive a message from my new supervisor asking me why I am out on Friday. I explained to him the situation and apologized for not letting him know immediately on Monday as I forgot I now report to him. Yearly Pay Raise

Rant/Advice My company does yearly raises without any sort of yearly review, so they just hit you with whatever pay the manager “feels” is best. My manager literally told me the whole process, and it’s solely up to the individual managers. It isn’t based off merit, or discussed amongst any other managers (we have at least 2 managers per district/area, so I don’t technically have only one boss/manager). We are a fairly larger company that makes hundreds of millions each year. I was told I was getting a 3% raise (which was the same as last year, and didn’t fuss because it was my first raise at this company), and to my surprise it ended up being 4%. Any Struggling Auto Techs Out There?

I've got ten years experience, nine of those loyal with one brand and one dealership. Spent thousands on tools and continuing to buy new tools to keep up with new cars. Went to technical college, spend a lot of time researching and learning about the new cars that come out and the new problems that arise. Have to do many repairs for the first time without good repair instructions or any leadership- “just figure it out” – under flat rate pay. They recently took all of our new/used car work and gave it to another team comprised of techs that have been here 1 year or less. Last couple years been making less and being asked to do more for the advisors. I mostly do oil changes, we are forced to work 6 day work weeks once a month with no guarantee of work or pay, I am struggling to…

Looking for work sucks.

Everything is a digital piece of literature. How am I supposed to do anything if i cant talk to the dam recruiter. I swear i get passed up on more jobs than ever before. Not even a phone call. It’s disheartening and disgusting that you have to be so robotic in order to even get an interview. I hate this world and everyone in it. Im just trying to make ends meet. Not change your company.

Boss tries to save 5-10% by denying me raise, ends up having to pay >40% extra for replacement

Just wanted to share my little victory story of not taking shit from my boss. I work in IT and I'm currently compensated as a junior, but for a while now I outgrew those shoes, and during my yearly formal evaluation I asked for a raise. Doing my research, 15% would have definitely been defensible, but I asked for 10% and would have found some number between 5 or 10% acceptable. Bossman would have none of it, gave me a list of reasons why I couldn't get a raise. The best was stupid bureaucracy stuff and the worst ones were really just nonsense, some were even mild to medium gaslighting. So I got nothing. After this the extra tasks kept piling on, advanced tasks like leading group projects and doing hiring interviews. Definitely not stuff that fits a junior pay. The fight for better minimum wage is also for better salaried worker pay

I see this dot not getting connected a lot of the time with things like “they will be making as much as me to flip burgers!”. Why are you okay making so little? I want to go back to a story about two years ago a co-worker and I where made to go out on a weekend to work. Both under salary so no overtime and they didn’t even let us comp our time to make up for losing part of our weekends. What’s fucked up is my co-worker was making 40k/yr and we found out the work we did paid the company $6,000 for each of us. My co worker had an annual review not to long after this and politely asked what the options for raises where. They immediately turned and gas lit them. Would like to know your opinion about my current situation

Hello, i started working on this company as CNC 7 years ago, they took me with no experience (My first job and first company) and i was working on a CNC Machine 3 axis. I had a person teaching me how to “learn” to work but that person left 3 years ago. When they took me as apprentice my salary was around 1200 euro with no experience at all (I Was with that person that was training me). After all this years i went from 1 Machine, to learning and running when needed (not always) 3 machine CNC + doing Cad-Cam programs and also putting tools, removing tools, changing tools, pretty much i do everything from the start to the end, nobody else can do it or is capable of doing it and if i am sick my machine is turned off.
