100% of Wages Garnished
I have a friend who recently was hospitalized and wasn’t able to work. In addition to mishandling my friend’s unemployment paperwork causing him to have to wait almost 3 months to receive any benefits, once he did return to work, they garnished 100% of his paychecks to pay for insurance premiums. As far as I understand it, the Federal CCPA would limit garnishment in this case to a maximum of 25% of his wages. I don’t believe a state law (Missouri) could trump this, but IANAL. I told my friend I thought he should report his employer to the state labor board because even if it doesn’t do anything for him, they will keep doing it to others if they keep getting away with it. So my question is, does anyone know of a reason why the 100% garnishment would be legal, and if not, does anyone know how to…
Quit but somehow “fired”
This will be a lengthy post so bear with me. I started at a collision center 11 months ago. Upon being hired I was promised all sorts of things.. as usual. None of them came to fruition. 3 months ago I was finally promoted to the position I had been promised yet there were negotiations regarding the pay. Instead of getting the normal bonuses, I'd only get one of the two and it is the smaller bonus. Considering I was still learning, I was willing to accept this to be given the opportunity to advance my career. I never received any type of a bonus as promised, I was told it would be 1k if I ended the month a certain way, I did and no bonus. They claimed it was because of this or that for both months. This past month, after being humiliated in front of several other…
New job doesn’t even have a bathroom…
I'll be starting a new job this Friday at a horse stable. It's a part-time gig, Fridays and Saturdays from 2:30 to 6:30 PM. When I was interviewed by the barn manager a couple weeks ago I didn't think to ask if there was a bathroom, because the other stable I work at part-time has one…as does the stable I ride at…as does every other stable I've ever been to in my entire 25 years of being around horses. I just assumed that, like everywhere else, there would be a simple single toilet bathroom or porta potty on the property for at least the employees to use. The other day I remembered that I had forgotten to ask the manager where the bathroom was located on the property because I didn't see one when I was at the stable for my interview. She replied they don't have one. At all.…
Hi, I’ve been a nurse for 3 years and at my current job for a year. I’m in a float pool which basically means I don’t find out which unit in the hospital I’m going to work in until the morning of. I like the variety that this provides, but I think the way my job goes about it can be extremely disrespectful. For one, my shift is from 7am to 7pm. I’m expected to call this “hotline” at 5:00 am that plays a recording of which nurse is going to which unit. If you don’t hear your name, you’re supposed to call the office and they’ll probably tell you your shift is cancelled. But here’s where my issue is. First, I picked up an extra shift on Friday. I didn’t hear my name on the hotline, and when I called I was told I got called off. Obviously this…
Help quitting soon and worried!
Im quitting my job at a rock quarry to go take another at a jiffy lube. Reasoning is hours. Also stuff like no A/C it work trucks that “are t a priority” to get fixed. Or find out your working on Saturday Thursday/Friday night when you clock out. WAYYYYYY more BS than that thats just surface level BS. Anyways if anyones ever worked with heavy equipment its easy to mess stuff up. Almost impossible to not run into stuff when your first learning. That being said, three months ago when i was learning on something, i got told that its property damage. But our company says we have to get reprimanded for property damages also a drug test. Both of witch ive never done for my supposed “property damages “ i guess my fear is that the company will come after me with property damages. Could they being they never…
Here's the story: I constantly observe individuals who get promoted despite lacking skills, solely because they flatter those in higher positions. This truly frustrates me, as it's hard to believe that this behavior goes unnoticed or doesn't bother anyone else. I'm becoming increasingly frustrated and want to find a way to not let it get to me. I'm here seeking advice on how to overcome these negative thoughts. Do you have any recommendations for dealing with this issue?
I work in a private practice mental health facility. There’s doctors, NP’s, therapist, techs and coordinators. I’m a tech & coordinator and was given health insurance rates that were absurdly high for shit coverage. I turned it down, as did a few other coworkers. Today I was talking with a newly hired NP and she informs me she’s going with the “free” health insurance option. Free??? She shows me her rates, and her top tier plan was CHEAPER than my lowest offer.. My cheapest plan was for the HMO & it was 200 a month. Her HMO was free. Is it normal for different roles to be given different rates? Such drastic differences at that.
