Would I be overstepping my boundaries telling my boss why we can’t get new people?

We can’t get new people in because we offer $11.50 an hour to start. We have a skeleton crew and the only people applying/interviewing are doing so for unemployment benefits/job hopping (don’t blame em.) We are all suffering because we are short staffed. I only work three days a week because I do contract work on the weekends and I’m still burnt out from busting my ass to get the store in shape since a lot of the workers we DO have know they won’t get fired and slack off. Is there a way to approach my managers as a regular ole cashier and propose ideas to get raises for the old crew and raise starting pay for the new hires without overstepping boundaries? TIA!

“Were you always like this”?

All of this started in 2010, when I ran away from Jeff's house as fast as I could while my partner Marion stayed in touch with her Life Alert operator. As I was running away, something strange happened: I was able to read the license plate number of the car that was leaving. What a stroke of luck, right? When I got home, I quickly saw that the problem was getting worse. The police radio channel was being used to talk about my car, and before I knew it, a cop car was outside. In a panic, I snuck out of the car through the back window, holding a shoebox and a fake phone. I had to hide in a trash can because the area was so crowded with cops. There, I found Ed Galbraith's business card in my shoebox, and I made sure to remember the key line. Fate…

So my company wants me to answer a survey about a meeting that wasn’t required and why I didn’t attend

So the place I work at did a lunch-and-learn. Basically got a speaker to come during lunch to talk about a specific topic. This person talked about how to be better during conversations. I didn’t think it would be helpful, so I didn’t attend. As it wasn’t a requirement. Now they sent a survey out about the meeting and even want people who didn’t attend to put why they didn’t. I didn’t go because I didn’t want to and ran an errand during that lunch break. Those surveys are supposed to be “anonymous”, but let’s be real, they know. So what should I put as my answer?

Am I an asshole for completely “checking out” at my job and doing the bare minimum?

I’ll try to keep this brief. The owners of my current workplace at a small franchise fired the GM (and, just to be clear, they had no good reason to fire her, but I digress). They said they’d promote me, the assistant manager of the store, to the position. A month later, nothing has come of it. I’ve frequently been the only person in charge there, as the owners have been in and out. Usually, the owners are just there for a few hours in the morning till I get there, then they bolt. I’m still being paid like an assistant, of course, even though I’m often the only person in charge there running the store while I’m there. I’ve asked them a couple times what their plans are with me, and they keep giving me wishy-washy half-assed answers about “eventually.” Today, I find out that in August, they plan…

“Tipping is prohibited.. payment of our staff is our responsibility-not yours!”

Hot Dog restaurant near me just opened up and had this on their brochure. I was slightly surprised at the tipping option on their tablet but then I read this. The people working here are great and I feel like they do deserve a tip.

Employers carried out a sting operation to prove someone was working other jobs for more money. Are they attempting to do the same to me now?

I work for a very small marketing agency. One of our clients (let's call them G) recently hired themselves a new marketing manager (will call her A) who has apparently shrank my company's roles with G. Bottom line – my team hates A. They're always talking shit about this poor woman in our Slack channels; what she's wearing, her not-so-great financial situation, how she talks. I don't know A at all, but my team’s behavior seems gross regardless of how annoying she may be. About a couple weeks ago, my team set up a fucking sting operation to sabotage A. They had someone else email A asking for marketing/branding help and offering pay in exchange for her services. A wrote back and said she'd be thrilled to learn more. Curtain drop. My team started celebrating A's demise, sending screenshots to G's CEO and everything. “BUSTED!” with celebratory emojis and further…

tipping question: do I have to tip the people who pick up a pastries from the glass shelf and box it up for ?

sorry if this has been asked before – but I am dealing with something and where else to ask but here. I got a slice of cake. the dude picked it from the glass shelf and put it in a box. and then asked me 15% tip or 18% tip. he did the same to the lady in front of me – who ordered a lemon loaf or something. I know people are divided with 'if you can't afford tip, don't go out' vs 'tipping is crazy'. what is right response to someone when they ask tip – and I don't feel like tipping – because the service was non-existent.
