Does anyone else feel like a lot of social media where discussion happens has been falling lately? It started with Twitter with Elon Musk taking over and essentially doing everything in his power to make it nosedive, then Tik Tok came under fire because the old farts in power wanted to know if it connected to wi-fi, and now Reddit pulls this stunt with their API bullshit. What do these all have in common? They are places where workers have started to organize, bring light to massive workplace issues, and enlighten others to the exploitation and brainwashing of the masses when it comes to class consciousness. They are shutting down these avenues for mass idea exchange because the working class is gaining power from it. Those who have been forced to leave Reddit may have 1 or 2 group chats, but now we're beginning isolated, which is just what they…
Month: July 2023
This will probably sound stupid, but iv gotta pretty easy job working at a bottle shop in a county town, not to stressful. The thing that drives me insane is just looking at the clock and knowing that I'm suck here for 7+ hours NO MATTER WHAT. I know it's not really that big a deal or even that long but it's just so unbearable knowing I'm trapped here away from my home and family for so long. How do get through the day/long shifts ?
Called out for taking sick days
So I started a new job in a warehouse last week. It's horribly boring but whatever, it's a paycheck. One day my supervisor comes in and says “Hey guys my daughter has a stomach bug and can't go to camp so she is going to be in the break room today” I'm like um ok. I go in to retrieve my lunch from the fridge and the child is not wearing a mask. He is constantly going in to check on her, and he is not wearing a mask. I have an autoimmune disease so not only do I get sick easy, I stay sick forever. The next day what do you know, I'm vomiting up everything I'm eating. This has lasted about 5 days. I call out of work for 3. I called out today, promising to be back on Wednesday after the holiday, and my supervisor responds “if…
My principal of my arch firm, told me he wanted to see me improve in the next two weeks, without constructive feedback. Instead of asking him, because supposedly he's so busy, I got rather encouraging advice from other people. This all started because I had a UTI for a month, which has since been resolved, but it caught the attention of my principal, who now for whatever reason is telling me that I am underperforming. He says he'd give me two weeks before deciding to put me on a 2-week PIP (one week left). I feel like I'm doing progress, but I've noticed suspicious activity from HR, putting me on training videos and giving me warnings for minor things such as putting sticky notes on my computer. Just in case my hardwork is in vain, should I wait to start applying before they confirm they'll put me on a 2-week…
So I work a $12/hr summer job in a relatively low COL area (think $500/mo for rent for one person) and I used to pick up shifts whenever they were available, simply because I need to work ~45 hours a month simply to pay rent alone and afford nothing else. Anyway, I feel the exact specifics of what I make are largely irrelevant, but how is it fair that I get only ONE SHIFT A WEEK assigned to me? 10 hours of work per pay period is not even enough to pay rent, and they always schedule unreliable people to work. As such, I get calls from my two managers at 6-7am on days where I am not scheduled asking me to come in to cover for someone. This is absolutely ridiculous. I will be looking for another job and refusing to pick up a single shift until they can…
Past the point of caring
Oh no, you guys have a consistent work schedule, better pay and more benefits. I’ve been trying to get an office job for two years and my retail job sucks. I have to work weekends, my schedule is not consistent, my pay is ass and the rewards in gift cards and food parties don’t make up for the fact I don’t have good health insurance. I just hate when people complain about office jobs. GIVE IT TO ME THAN. I’ll take it and not have to stand for 7-8 hours a day getting berated by customers.
So ive been doing security for 7 years and last week i was sent to a “skilled gaming arcade” (Its just a casino) Before i started i was told of the site and i asked if they had a fish game. ( most of these places have a fish game and its very illegal.) They told me yes but they were on the up and up but i remained suspicious. Well a week goes by and on a table i see a notice from the local PD giving a statement to the owner of the premises that they were the owner of a gambling establishment and must Ceased all gambling activities ect ect. But It had mentioned colorado law code 10-18-107 and 18-10.5-103. the 10-18 one has this on it. (1) “Whoever as owner, lessee, agent, employee, operator, or occupant knowingly maintains, aids, or permits the maintaining of gambling premises…
I am a perfect exemple of the peter principle. I got promotion to my level of incompetence. I never hid that fact, I always told my employee that i was a terrible boss and i hated my duty. I manage 4 employee, that are part of a union. 3 of them i am thoroughly ashamed of. Hygiene issue, below high school grammar. Below par work. 2 of them have court date coming in the coming month. I was pushed them by management. I tried to tell them to clean their act, grow up, and as long as other department didnt complain, I wouldnt have issue with them. Despite warning, they gave less than a fuck for their job, which i completely understand. Their union contract is up for renogotiation, and one of the key point management is not negotiating on is that those 4 jobs are going to be cancelled…
