Would you leave it all behind simply because you were not fulfilled? At least for immediate short-term future, choose life experience/travel over career/work if you could?

Many of us in society are not fulfilled with what we do. Whether we make $15/hr or $1M a year. We can still be miserable. IF you were making enough money/living a good life on paper but incredibly unhappy, would you leave it all behind? Assuming you didn’t have a family or something in particular that was keeping you. With wages and cost of living here in the US, where’s the balance? A 4-day work week would be a good start. Is it more of an American problem? Ones working to pay for a loved ones Medical bill or get out of College debt? I met people in Latin America traveling(from Europe mostly) able to take such time off from their company. 1-year sabbatical for some in Germany? Say what? Is it all worth it to you for 2-weeks vacation? In the words of Peter Gibbons from ‘Office Space’ https://youtu.be/_jexWBP5Jt4

Reading this subreddit makes me so mad I wanna quit FOR you

I am an ex-teacher. Losing my teaching job was traumatic, but years later I can say I'm thankful to be out. The amount of collective gaslighting in the education system is staggering, and it's mutated the culture into one of thankless self crucifixion. Each time I read one of these posts, it makes me regret not saying more of what I needed to say when I was still teaching, but even more grateful I've transitioned to a career where I am not only more valued for giving a fuck, my give-a-fuck makes me indespensable. So if you have crippling anxiety, put my ass on the phone with them. Who gives a fuck if it's unprofessional–you're quitting. Gatsby's got some issues he needs to work out. This rant is brought to you by unresolved trauma. Please downvote this or I'll be embarrassed.

Demoted from salary after illness

Work for small business. I work IT and CNC programming. Been salaried for 5 years, when I began to have health issues. I was hospitalized, asleep for days at a time recovering with fever and vomiting. This whole time I’ve never had any benefits. No PTO, no Sick Days, no 401k, no insurance, nothing. I worked an average of 58hrs a week for 3.5 years (paid for 40) and the moment I miss a few weeks (scattered) due to illness, it then becomes unfair and I was demoted to hourly but nothing changed about my duties. Loyalty didn’t matter, work ethic didn’t matter, tenure didn’t matter. Yet the owners relative misses all the time for non illness to run people around and go to doctors visits and ball games and still salary and without the history of putting in the time. Fuck your employers. Do what’s best for you. They…

Sales team makes promises we can’t meet, blames me

Rant incoming, and sorry for formatting, on mobile. I work as a warehouse manager for an electronics manufacturer. Most days my job isn't too terrible (compared to a lot of posts I see), but for the past few months I have been having a problem with a member of our sales and marketing team. She keeps making promises (delivery date for orders) without checking with any other department (namely the production and warehouse, ie, me). And then when production fails to deliver on time, she tells management it is my fault, and they routinely take her side. We use a lot of custom components for our products that are made to order, some with incredibly long (6-18 month) lead times, and she regularly does not check with us to see if we have them in stock before approving delivery dates. My inventory levels are set by corporate policy, so I…

Fired for not being happy and then they tried to gaslight me into thinking this was a good thing

Worked as a manager for this company for 8 months and busted my ass for them. Rebuilt the operations structure, would work 12 hour days on my 6th workday without compensation, covered for no call no shows, consistently worked in 115° weather with no AC doing physical labor and was let go yesterday for not being happy and not being a cultural fit. I did nothing but exceed expectations and metrics but was let go for not being there for the “greater good” as they said. Was never given a warning or talked to just immediately terminated even though when I had to cover shifts for no call no shows I was only told to give that employee a write up. I was told during my termination “you don’t seem happy and we want you to be happy so this decision is best for the both of us” while I’m…

Boss called me on my day off

So I’m a salaried employee and have earned PTO so I put in my request the day before I intended to be off. that’s pretty normal for our company. It was for last minute family coming into town, not that it really matters. This is a sales job and I’m currently in the top 5% of the nation so I’m doing pretty good. My boss had definitely seen my request to take this week off because he called me today and I said I was busy with family he just replied “okay call me tomorrow. Nothing important “ even though I’m also off tomorrow. I got pretty anxious and gave him a call back within 10 minutes and he didn’t answer so I’m now waiting to see if he’ll call me back again. I don’t wanna be bothered and stressed like this on my days off. I have absolutely no…
