Been lurking here for a bit. Seeing what it is now for those out there in the mid-level beginnings, and around that realm. Amazing what some orgs are doing to you out there. Shameful may be more appropriately descriptive. Nearly a decade ago, I had a certification dangled for 2 years to stay and “fix” things. My boss’s boss left and approved my full cert expense their final day (I wanted to do it the right way so I held out until they finally – in an individual act of defiance) approved the plan to my scope. Their DR (my boss) couldn’t do anything about it, and I chose not to despite suggestions that it “wasn’t in the cards” (but had a big green stamp on it already). A round trip flight, a fancy acronym after my name, and several years later the org that paid no longer exists; absorbed…

Hello, dear anti-work thread. I see the stories and and calls from many people here on the thread and I presume/deduct they are from USA. These read as horror stories here in the EU. I live and work in Germany and oh boy it’s not perfect but I am happy mostly. Here is thing, you guys won’t fix anything overnight. What you need to do is to push for legislation and get active in your unions to make those pushes. And it will get pushback from companies because they want to make a buck. See the student debt crisis is there because you run a university to make a profit. The healthcare is crap also because it’s an industry that wants a profit. Your work laws need changes and you need to give up some notions of “financing the poor”. Go and learn, and make steps little by little. Quality…

I hate the US
My dad used to have to work his ass off just so we can have a nice house and do things we love. He would work so much overtime that he would stay 36 hours at a time and still manage to cook dinner and let us enjoy hobbies. The company he works is so goddamn dangerous it's not even funny. Every week he comes home with a new burn and his hearing has degraded over time from the loud machines. He once got half his waist completely burned. No human should have to do all this, to LIVE. Thankfully he is now with someone that he loves and can help pay the bills, taxes, etc. but is still working at that same company (now not having to work overtime and gets paid more). This is why I hate the US
Does anyone else feel like a lot of social media where discussion happens has been falling lately? It started with Twitter with Elon Musk taking over and essentially doing everything in his power to make it nosedive, then Tik Tok came under fire because the old farts in power wanted to know if it connected to wi-fi, and now Reddit pulls this stunt with their API bullshit. What do these all have in common? They are places where workers have started to organize, bring light to massive workplace issues, and enlighten others to the exploitation and brainwashing of the masses when it comes to class consciousness. They are shutting down these avenues for mass idea exchange because the working class is gaining power from it. Those who have been forced to leave Reddit may have 1 or 2 group chats, but now we're beginning isolated, which is just what they…
This will probably sound stupid, but iv gotta pretty easy job working at a bottle shop in a county town, not to stressful. The thing that drives me insane is just looking at the clock and knowing that I'm suck here for 7+ hours NO MATTER WHAT. I know it's not really that big a deal or even that long but it's just so unbearable knowing I'm trapped here away from my home and family for so long. How do get through the day/long shifts ?
Called out for taking sick days
So I started a new job in a warehouse last week. It's horribly boring but whatever, it's a paycheck. One day my supervisor comes in and says “Hey guys my daughter has a stomach bug and can't go to camp so she is going to be in the break room today” I'm like um ok. I go in to retrieve my lunch from the fridge and the child is not wearing a mask. He is constantly going in to check on her, and he is not wearing a mask. I have an autoimmune disease so not only do I get sick easy, I stay sick forever. The next day what do you know, I'm vomiting up everything I'm eating. This has lasted about 5 days. I call out of work for 3. I called out today, promising to be back on Wednesday after the holiday, and my supervisor responds “if…
My principal of my arch firm, told me he wanted to see me improve in the next two weeks, without constructive feedback. Instead of asking him, because supposedly he's so busy, I got rather encouraging advice from other people. This all started because I had a UTI for a month, which has since been resolved, but it caught the attention of my principal, who now for whatever reason is telling me that I am underperforming. He says he'd give me two weeks before deciding to put me on a 2-week PIP (one week left). I feel like I'm doing progress, but I've noticed suspicious activity from HR, putting me on training videos and giving me warnings for minor things such as putting sticky notes on my computer. Just in case my hardwork is in vain, should I wait to start applying before they confirm they'll put me on a 2-week…
