I’ve previously made a few post about my job. I finally found a new place to work and tomorrow is my last day. I didn’t give a notice, I scheduled a vacation next week to burn my vacation time. I won’t be returning the following Monday. What really tickles me to death is I’m the 4th welder to quit in 2 weeks. I’m the only one the company allows to run the parts that I run due to the customer being so particular. They will be a week behind then have to figure out who to run them and train them to do so. I’m figuring that place will be a real shit show in about two weeks.

Remember, Employers Don’t Care about You
Short story i was reflecting on earlier today. Years back, I'd worked for a company via a temp agency. Was there for 2 years, constantly being told they were going to make me staff and get all the perks that came with it. Eventually, I'd got tired of waiting and began applying elsewhere. The timing couldnt have worked out better because they did finally to make me staff (all for a $0.25 raise, only actual perk was no seasonal lay offs). As fate would have it I'd been interviewing at other companies and received an offer on my very 1st day on staff. I spent the day filling out my transfer paperwork and getting new ID photo. End of the day I put in my two week notice and was immediately brought the department heads office. They were furious and fired me right then and there claiming I wasted their…

The ill-fated Journey of the ‘Titan Sub’
I (27M) work for a non-profit in land conservation. It is a very small organization and I am one of just a few employees. I have 3 advanced degrees in varying subjects. As I finished school I began looking for jobs “in my field” and applied all over. Eventually got hired by this place. I literally moved across the country for the job (3000+ miles). At the time I was feeling lost and needed a change of pace as I was dealing with the some other existential problems in my life. The good: I feel good about my job— it aligns with my morals. I live in a very beautiful place and get to spend time outdoors for work. The bad: I get paid $23 an hour (it was $22 before I negotiated for some commute reimbursement), am part time and the commute to my work is quite costly in…
I suppose I should start this by stating that I'm a political science major. I fully intend to use my voice and it began when I realized that my supervisor had acted with haste in regards to a piece of mail that I received. Mind you, everyone got this letter. It was from the CEO of the company thanking people for their participation at an event. Granted, I wasn't really assisting anyone that day. I was doing my job and picking up the slack while other members of my team went out to play direct roles. But everyone received the letter but for some reason, they didn't feel as though I should have received it. They Took it. They threw it away without allowing me to actually read the thing (granted, a collegue of mine let me read theirs) and it was as I thought, a broad letter thanking everyone…
I currently work for a small family business where the father owns the company and his daughter is my manager. I've been there for one year and I am blown away by how much she gets away with and the amount of problems she causes. She misses deadlines left and right, she spirals a lot so it is impossible to have a productive conversation with her, and she is constantly MIA on her remote days (and when I finally do hear from her, it's at 4:30pm, when my workday is ending). It boggles my mind. She invents imaginary hurdles that make our lives harder, but if she doesn't have things done her way (which she deems the “proper” way), she loses her mind. She's so dead set in following these ancient/broken procedures that she's created that she would rather miss deadlines than skip any singular step in her process. It's…
