I was laid off from a company Friday they cut half the employees away. I was in a process engineering roll. I got a new job today with day one benefits and perks and vacation accumulating on day one. Everything about the new place benefit wise is better the 401k is 8% vs the 1% where I just came from the insurance is better the hours are better and the pay raise is 3.50 per hour. I'm now sitting here wondering why I didn't leave sooner.

So about two months ago our General Manager left. I’m the assistant manager and have not and will not be promoted as per the District manager. It’s a pretty shit situation but it pays the bills. I was told my position is fluctuating on a corporate level and I’d need to reapply. I asked if my position was secured or if I needed to worry about anything. The DM insisted it was a secured position it was just a technicality to apply and interview again.
