Every time I hear about unemployment numbers are low I think of this statement https://youtu.be/paaen3b44XY?t=166 This is Winnie Byanyima, Executive Director of the OXFAM Food, shelter, health, and education are increasing in price yet our jobs do not cover just those basics. If wages don't cover those then a Congress that is willing to fight price gouging would do. We have neither.

So I was suddenly laid off
I was laid off from a company Friday they cut half the employees away. I was in a process engineering roll. I got a new job today with day one benefits and perks and vacation accumulating on day one. Everything about the new place benefit wise is better the 401k is 8% vs the 1% where I just came from the insurance is better the hours are better and the pay raise is 3.50 per hour. I'm now sitting here wondering why I didn't leave sooner.
I have a gap in my employment history from when my now ex gf was diagnosed with Stage 3 Cancer, for which I eventually stopped down from my job for to help take care of her full time because I was the primary person she could rely on as she didn't drive nor did she have any family in the area. Whenever I get asked about this I explain the situation and that I waited for my employer to hire and train a replacement before I left and then I didn't work until she recovered, especially as a lot of her medical related things were in a city 3 hours away but I'm starting to think maybe I should just lie and erase that gap and make it seem like I've been a good worker drone without any pauses in employment as that seems to be an unfathomable concept to…
Oh hell no.
Making the office “Commute Worthy”
LOS ANGELES OFFICE MARKET OUTLOOK LEASING CHALLENGES, ENSURING EMPLOYEE SUCCESS AND MAKING THE OFFICE “COMMUTE-WORTHY” I'm a construction professional working for one of the largest general contractors in the United States. I'm based in downtown LA. I attend conferences for networking and received an email with the above heading. This particular conference is for designers and developers to have a chance to discuss what the market is currently doing. All of us know that these Urban office high-rises are half empty and that the owners are losing out on money. I thought it was interesting that they were going to use the phrase commute worthy. I don't even know what that means. Does this mean daycare? Does this mean little coffee bars? The group seems desperate. What are your thoughts on commute Worthy workspaces?

TLDR: Regional managers refusle to promote people to 2 years of manger shortages Backgeoud/Prolog I have been with company for 6 years started on part time when my apprentship didnt work out (i did this alongside working this job) i talked to my then manager (good guy) who gave me full time hours and started my keyholder training. Mixed signals-seeking advice
So about two months ago our General Manager left. I’m the assistant manager and have not and will not be promoted as per the District manager. It’s a pretty shit situation but it pays the bills. I was told my position is fluctuating on a corporate level and I’d need to reapply. I asked if my position was secured or if I needed to worry about anything. The DM insisted it was a secured position it was just a technicality to apply and interview again. He sent a QR code and I couldn’t access it and emailed my DM about a direct link because I couldn’t use the QR code. I never received a response. I kind of figured he got lazy and wouldn’t be interviewing me or going through the hiring process and just proceed. This was about two weeks ago. Anyhow, I recently found a listing on Indeed…
