I’d like to keep my workplace confidential, I live in BC Canada. I recently had a falling out with my manager/ gm. I was very upset about the shifts I was given (I am a server dependent on tips). Basically I ended having a falling out with the GM. It was a very busy shift one person didn’t show up and we were short staff. While being stressed out and trying to run my tables food my manager and me had a back and fourth about what food should be run first (This is a restaurant, and my salary is dependent on tips). I was pulled aside later in the day and written up due to the way I spoke to my manager. When I confronted my manager after the fact about why they are giving new hires more shifts than me (This is a constant problem which I have…

So this happened to me at work
So I've been working in the hotel industry for a little while now, and at this particular hotel for roughly a year and a half. The manager's assistant, who happens to be holding somewhat of a hybrid position (still doing shifts behind the desk, but also doing all the work the manager is too lazy to do, which is a lot) is a dick. A major one. Doesn't say hello when she arrives in the morning, and attacks you right away on whatever she can find to make your day shitty. You're drowning in emails and calls and bookings but you haven't replied to this email that you received less than a minute ago yet? How dare you be so unproductive and unmotivated. You think you're doing a good job? Here's a list of all the little nothings that were not done exactly the way I want it yesterday and…
Waiting until I get thrown out, still getting company money in the mean while 😀 has been going this way for months now xD
Sick of my lying union and company
I work for a factory as an industrial mechanic, union job so you would think good pay and good benefits. I guess i will start this back a year ago when they brought in a new manager who hired all his buddies to fill in empty mechanic positions. We are paid on a grade system and the starting grade for a mechanic was a grade 8 – $25, well he brought the new hires in at a grade 10 -$28, and according to our contract they can not hire new people in a department for more than they are paying current employees, so after a year of fighting finally every mechanic got their grade 10 but no back pay which is a sore spot but atleast we got our proper pay. This brings me to now, new contract time which was signed and a grade 10 is now $36.51 which…
Abusive co-worker got his karma.
Recently, a fellow employee ran down a hallway at work slamming his fist against the wall screaming at me. I thought he was going to hit me. For reference, I am female, he is male. He had a history of violet behavior against women at work. On my errands yesterday I pass an accident. It was him. He was fine standing the side of the road, but his car was completely fucked. I know this shouldn’t make me happy, it doesn’t, I just feel like karma made an appearance
I live with my parents, so I managed to save a little money. I want to spend some of ut on helping others. What's the best thing I can do to help my fellow workers? Help starting a union? Donating to charity? Other ideas? Thank you
Use those words: Lie. Cheat. Steal. Murder. Call them out, and don’t allow them the veneer of legitimacy that comes from “democracy” and “elections.” They LIE. They CHEAT. They STEAL. They MURDER.
For context, I live on Guam (US territory). Can’t find anywhere on google so coming here. My coworkers and I work part-time as lifeguards. We are in the sun, swimming in the ocean with tourists (leading tours), and carrying heavy gear long distances. My boss informed me that we are opening up 7 days a week, which means almost everyone on my team will HAVE to work 7 days a week, as we are understaffed. To me, I think we just shouldn’t be opening that often since we are understaffed. But my boss says since “we are part time anyways,” we should be okay with it. It’s just an exhausting job. And on my days off I tutor and I’m not willing to blow off my students for $12/hr at a tiring job. Kind of venting, but also seeking advice/knowledge. The state I am from originally made this illegal, so…
Any advice would help. So i’ve called in sick to work for 3 days now , I tried to get myself to go in today I got dressed and ready to go and then couldn’t face it. We are meant to call a manager when off sick but my manager is very unsympathetic so I called the main office to leave a voicemail. I hate my job so much i’ve been there 4 years and it’s got worse they put so much onto me now and i’ve tried to speak to them about it but there is no point. Also i’m so down I never see my family or friends as I work 8-5 and just feel emotionally drained right now. Any of you been in this situation or any advice you can give to me. I apply for loads of jobs but yet to hear anything back.
