As sad as it is we don’t have any other options. People say to boycott companies, protest, do this or that, but it changes nothing. Why? Because the people in power right now are the only ones that can actually do something. Until that changes, we are helpless. We are not going to be able to unite in high mass as citizens, no matter how hard we try, it’s just not possible with the capabilities of those in power. Hopefully when the old fucks, fucking us over die, we will take the opportunity to change things, instead of replicating the way things are. Until then, we’re slaves.

Work culture in America is disgusting
I'm on my lunch break right now, which I don't usually take, and all I can think about is going back to work and finishing work so I can come home, shower, go to sleep, and begin again. It's disgusting. What countries have better work/life balance?
as a child i was given a terminal diagnosis and a prognosis of sixth months to live since i was 10 until i was in my mid twenties. i felt more hope for the future when i was dying and in mind bending pain than i do as a mostly functional adult in the work force. the american system is fucked beyond words.
Hi, I work for a university as an accountant. I make ok money, could definitely make more but I just started and it's a place I know. I am fine with it. It's a job. But the director for my department can be really passive aggressive about how since most of us are salaried that a 40 hour work week should not be expected. I always tell myself that that mentality is why so many people hate their jobs but sometimes it gets to me. I try not to cave and at most I'll work about 46 hours a week but I cannot justify working 50-55 hours a week at my current pay. How do you deal with this? Just say fuck it?
I just spent a whole fucking workday working on a promotion recommendation for one of my direct reports. This was a lot of work and this person deserves a promotion 100%. It'll probably be 2 cycles before it goes through because… who the fuck knows? I send it up and nobody knows after that. Maybe my boss drops the ball – I'll never know. If you have a lazy or overworked boss, or your boss just doesn't like you even just a little bit and doesn't want to take the extra effort, all they have to say is “welp, didn't go through this time! Sorry!” What a ridiculous system.
Søren Mau – Communism is Freedom
I few months ago I started working at a restaurant. I was generally given cashier work because I was deemed too slow to be a cook. I have severe ADHD and mild autism. My manager began criticizing how I was too slow as a cashier as well, even though I was working as fast as I could. Eventually, I went on a vacation across the country to see my family and got time off for it. Once I came back, I was given no shifts. After a few days, they deactivated my shift scheduling account. I never heard anything from my manager or anyone who works there. I asked the owner what happened and he claimed he didn’t know and that he would look into it. I haven’t heard from him since and it’s been around a week. I believe I’ve been fucked by my job and I’m pretty pissed…
Just given the news.
Was just told this morning I would be let go at the end of August. I should have known the writing was on the wall when our new owners couldn't keep our clients. What really pisses me off is they head hunted me out of a union job last year. Not sure why I do this anymore. No idea where I go from here. I'm 40, married, 2 kids. Can't just run off somewhere to find another job. I'm sick of working for companies that don't give a damn that your family could be homeless in a month. /Rant
It’s not hopeless
I have seen a lot of posts on here about crappy businesses and there crappy rules/practices and there mistreatment of employees, I definitely agree that a lot of employers are horrible and that they should be held accountable. But I wanted to make a little bit of a positive post on here, because while it is bad right now, it isn't hopeless. There are a lot of great companies out there, not all are awful, you just need to find them. Just a few weeks ago I got a full-time job and so far I love this place. They have great benefits, great work environment and even though my current position is not my dream one, this company is trying to help me reach my dream position by paying for tuition for some classes related to that position. Most suprising of all, they have a mandatory online program that teaches…
