I am in-between jobs and working as a security guard while I look. The other day my boss called me and asked could I work second shift for a week. All she told me it would be outside in a car. I figured it was construction and I would direct traffic or keep people out. The fateful day came and I was pulled aside to be briefed. There was a layoff and they were afraid some people may strike back. I wasn’t told the number of layoffs. So, I was to get into a company car that said security on the side and drive around the property and stop at every entrance for around 20 minutes to remind people that is security is here. I somewhat thought it was stupid/comical due to go anywhere you need a badge to open a door. I checked the companies reports and profits were…
Month: July 2023
Recently, I have been out there looking for work and taking every job i can get. With that strategy comes obstacles, contract obstacles that cost me $2.5k. I was pretty excited to be working and finally start earning cash. To then be met with a shitty attitude from colleagues and the boss. I worked a total of 6 days at this Swedish phone repair job “Fixmyphone” before I was signed off from the boss for not meeting their expectations (even though i hit the daily budget every day). This contract came with complications, it was a work-education employment contract. Which meant I was paying to be working there, since i was getting “educated” even tho this job was a single person operator job, with only 1 or 2 people working consecutively in the store. The only education I got was me learning how to do stuff on my own or…
*Just for context I work at a grocery store in the Central Valley of California if that helps This Thursday (7/13) I was working in the freezer isle and I put cardboard down as I always do so people don’t slip and fall. I brought a cart of ice cream out and started working it like normal right? I took the cart back to the freezer and I picked the cardboard up off the ground because it had already soaked up the water from the cart that was on it. I put them away because it’s actually sometimes easy for the cardboard to slip out from under you if you walk over it fast or run on it. I get a cart of frozen pizzas and don’t put new cardboard because the cart with the pizza didn’t have any ice or anything on it. It was just cold so I…

Corporate is dumb
Im trying so hard to just stay positive right now. I work in pickup at fred meyer (kroger store) and i work in the worst department in the store. Were the lowest paid in the store, but we have the most pressure, forced to work harder and faster than anyone else (besides maybe checkout people). I put in an application to move to a different department this week, and today, right before i was going to clock out, my manager gave me a verbal warning to tell me i was going too slow bc i was talking to people. She literally printed out all my runs for the day and added up all the times between runs to tell me I'd wasted an hour of time between runs and asked me why there were 20 minutes between runs when id gone to the bathroom after my break. I dont understand…
Hey folks, I work in the medical field and we are mandated do an annual TB test and N95 mask fitted test that is due the same month as our hiring date. I was hired last year as of June of 2022. Employee Health does the traditional skin tb test, which takes forever, but I already had a tb test from Quest Diagnostics that same year by doing the quantiferon to which Employee Health had no issue accepting this to their portal. That same day, I later emailed my hiring manager, stating how I went to a specific nurse from Employee Health and turned in my tb test, along with all other form of important documentation. Fast forward to January of 2023, I go see my doctor to do my annual A1C and asked my doctor to throw in a quantiferon test to my orders as well. I drove down…
Hey! When I was first hired at my job, the ad listed $20. Manager asked me on the phone if I’d be okay with $19 to start & $20 in January of 2023. I was kind of desperate lol so we agreed. I was a dumbass because I didn’t get that in writing. It’s almost a year later & no $1 rate increase. I asked my manager about it a couple of times & got vague answers like “I’m working on that”. Went to payroll & the regional manager, they said that’s not in the cards & that my manager had told them it was “something we were going to work towards, but was never promised” which was a lie lol. In my most recent 1-on-1 he made the $1 increase a “short term goal I can work towards”, which was so demeaning. I honestly don’t think there’s anything I…
It's a start.
