IT Trade/Craft Labor Union In The USA?
Are there any national unions for people in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Electrical Engineering, Etc? Nothing moves without us. We control the infrastructure that moves money. Without us there is no maintenance done to computer systems. This leaves every transaction, every transfer, every stock move, every purchase, every website site, every streaming service, every web application, every database increasingly vulnerable to data breaches and service crashes. If organized, we can bring this country to a standstill every bit as fast as Teamsters, teachers, or SEIU.
silly little redditors.. there's already a viable alternative.. lemmy..
Foreign Ownership of US Homes
Work harder and pay more for a roof over your head so that foreign investors can “diversify” and make additional income.
I need advice. Should I quit?
I am navigating an incredibly challenging situation at the moment. Not too long ago, I joined a new job, during which, unfortunately, I had to grapple with the devastating loss of my father. This tragic event has deeply impacted my mental health, resulting in depression and PTSD, for which I am currently receiving psychiatric care. Despite having made my boss aware of my situation and providing all the necessary medical documentation, I've felt an increasingly hostile environment at work. It appears as though my boss is attempting to push me out due to my reduced productivity, even going as far as suggesting that I quit due to my disability. This has left me in a state of confusion and fear, as I am based in Canada and unsure of what my next steps should be—whether to resign or confront the HR department about my predicament as I feel my job…
I've mostly worked retail/people facing jobs for my career. I do not have a college degree so my choices are somewhat limited. Hated food service. Grocery store was okay. I LOVE veterinary medicine. Yeah. Theres the nasty wounds and lots of noise and shit, but idc. That doesn't bother me. I love coming in to work. I like my coworkers. Our clientele for the most part are really cool people. I go home tired, but content and knowing I did something good. I make $15 an hour. In NY state. The only reason it's been doable is because my husband has a higher income. So I still contribute to household expenses but me making less is not a huge issue. Til recently. Our electric bill is very expensive. We dont have central air so our window units are constantly running – NY summers are brutal and humid. We have 2…
they got to go
Some research and investigation done on one of the lesser known companies which “consults” to reap profits at the expense of the people who actually make this entire thing possible.
They don't care about you. They don't care about your coworkers. They don't even really care about themselves as the same boss that overworked us so much that two of my coworkers died of exhaustion, one from a cardiac arrest after working through a heavy cold and one falling asleep on the wheel after being sent to a customer the morning after his 50th nightshift without a day off, worked himself also to death with 20 hour days and having to have his phone on even when off shift for important calls. They only care about money. They serve the money. And the money needs sacrifices. As long as our system depends on unlimited growth and noone being content with a little less nothings gonna change. And that won't happen so see y'all in hell lol
