Worked at a Quality Inn in Hamburg NY for a year.
I put in my two weeks a week ago when something happened that I decided was the last straw; dirty rooms on a sold out night.
The thing is, I dont blame the housekeepers. The housekeepers are a barely english speaking indian family, father, mother, son, daughter. They’re wonderful and kindhearted people. The owners of this eatablishment pays the entire family, in one lump sum, $400 or so a week for their work. They also have them living in the hotel, so the work never stops. Not to mention, they often take this family to go work at another hotel in downtown Buffalo. These poor people are being worked to the fucking BONE for $400 a week… an entire family…
I was going to finish my last two days that im scheduled this week, but I was told by the GM “I’d rather have you leave than coworkers name”
All I could do was smile as I thought “today is my last day here.”
