Emergency vet only has 3 employees staffed today

I’m at one of just two vets in my large-ass city that accepts walk-in appointments. Got here at 7:50am, currently 10:00am and still several people in front of me in line. Apparently there is just one person working reception and two vets/techs on staff. And about 20 animals waiting in the heat outside in the sun waiting to be seen. My cat hasn’t had been drinking (or eating) since Sunday morning. The last thing he needs is a 2+ hour wait in the heat just to get inside. Why the hell am I paying $75/visit before all the actual procedures just for 3 people to be working? Vets, pay your staff a livable fucking wage, please.
