I have had two job interviews in the past month that tried to say they weren’t going to pay me for training.

I know the law, obviously (Maybe that's not so obvious?) so I let them know this as soon as they brought it up. The first job sort of backtracked and said they could “make an exception” for me. This job requires six months of training. The owner of the company is just, so tired of people not following through with the training process he's holding their pay until the end. I was speechless. Job number 2 left me more angry than speechless. The recruiter said I wouldn't be paid for training, but not to worry because I will get a $200 bonus within a month. I straight up cut him off, told him this was illegal and he said ok and hung up. Do people generally not know their rights? I know they vary from state to state, but wtf?
