Let me begin by saying that I am someone who thoroughly struggles to find work due to my criminal background. I made a mistake shortly after my 18 birthday and it has put a damper on my career path ever since. For a second, it felt like big manufacturers were the one company’s that would be willing to give me shot. Which I’m grateful for to an extent. But I’ve never been able to get rid of that hunger for something more. That being said, I kept pushing for more. And I FINALLY found it! Back in October I took on a position in renewable energy with one of the biggest corporations in that industry. Downright fucking thrilled I was for about 3 months. It was all I ever wanted in a position for literally close to 10 years of my life. Until it wasn’t.. like I said, I was ecstatic to be there. But I don’t feel like 2 of my colleagues felt quite the same way. I was under the impression that they thought I was out to show them up or something. Who the fuck knows? Anyways, they started harassing me in different forms. Just fucking with me any way they could, really. And as all of this started happening I was reporting incidents to my manager. But there was never much of a follow up to my knowledge. Some time goes by, nothing changes, but I notice that there is an opening for the same position I held at a location about 30 miles from me. I reached out to my manager and expressed interest in the position, mostly to get away from these two fuckos, and he was delighted at the idea of me transferring. Said he just needed to hash out some details with HR. Pretty standard. Well some time goes by and I get a call from him one night after hours,
He says my transfer will be approved as long as I am no longer affiliated with Local 150 (labor union). So of course I called my union rep to see what my options were, and he didn’t make it seem like there was one. Leaving me with the decision to stay and reap all the benefits of the union while dealing with harassment day after day, or take the position 30 miles away paying $6.00 an hour less to get away from it. How do I retaliate here?
