I just got fired for interviewing at work

So that sounds bad, but hear me out. I worked 7:30-4:30, during the standard operating hours for most business. I’ve been looking for new employment since March, but really ramped up my efforts in the last two weeks. It’s really none of my employer’s business. However, it really is impractical to schedule interviews in the middle of the day and have to call out every other day. So, I scheduled them during my lunch break or right after I got off. Last week, someone snitched on me for doing an interview in the break room and I was talked to about it and told not to conduct interviews on their property. Lol, okay. I could’ve called out of work every single time I had one, and at the rate I’m going, I have almost 2-3 interviews a day. I actually called out yesterday morning, and then had another two interviews…

Last week, someone snitched on me for doing an interview in the break room and I was talked to about it and told not to conduct interviews on their property.

Lol, okay. I could’ve called out of work every single time I had one, and at the rate I’m going, I have almost 2-3 interviews a day.

I actually called out yesterday morning, and then had another two interviews in the afternoon. They had fucked with my schedule and made me stay late, even though I told them I had an appointment.

“Doesn’t matter. We’ll be out of ratio with the kids, and we’ll need you here.”

I asked a co-worker if she could stay for me, and offered her $20 bucks to do so.

She said she would, and then came back later saying she forgot she had an appointment later.

I was able to get out of the classroom and take my phone interview, and was able to clock out on time for the second interview.

I worked in a dead zone, so I couldn’t have zoomed in my car. So I stayed and conducted my second interview on the break room because it’s not their business what I’m doing on my phone.

Anyway, a couple of people walked by and probably saw what I was doing.

This afternoon, my director called me out of my classroom to tell me that they had already told me to stop doing interviews there, and that I had bribed someone to stay, and that I was effectively terminated.

I’m not upset. It just gives me more time to interview and look for a less shitty place to work for more money. Fuck early childhood education.
