So my company has a rule that if you have your phone on you, you are allowed to step off and answer a 2 minute call to make sure it's not an emergency. My manager however does not allow us to have our phones on us when on the clock. My coworker got a call yesterday and her daughter was in the hospital. She wouldn't have known if she was following my boss's store rule for no phones. He says his store his rules but can I protest if it's a company wide rule you can take emergency calls?
